You need to have Windows XP / Service Pack 2 and Windows Media Player version 10 or higher in order for the device to be recognized.

If you have these already, try using a different USB Port, preferably in the back of the PC.

Best of Luck.

My mp4 player is not being recognized

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

My sharper image MP3 isnt charging.

Make sure the firmware is up to date

Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware.

HELP ON THE SANSA !

Lock your player. (slider at top edge slid so it shows orange instead of white)
Hold in the "Record" button on upper left side of player while connecting player to computer. Keep holding in the "Record" button until recovery mode comes up onscreen. Then you can use the recovery exe file you downloaded from Sandisk and should be back in business.

It wont turn on

This is the worst mp3 player ever invented - i have to tell you this up front. There is no driver, the company does not support the product anymore - I would return it now while you still can.
