A couple of possibilities:
1. Remove the belt. While using the foot pedal it is necessary to see if the motor moves freely without excess heat. If there is a problem the motor must be replaced or fixed.
2. Try to turn the machine without the motor attached by using the hand wheel. Does it move freely? If this is a problem the part that is causing the resistance must be found. Especially check the hook (under the bobbin case), needle arm and monitor moving parts.
3. Is the belt in good shape? If it is not so good then replace it.
4. While the belt is attached the motor must be cocked to allow the least resistance and most speed while the motor is running. This must be done carefully while the motor is running slowly. (foot control) The adjustment can be done most accurately this way.
5. Clean and oil all moving parts.
6. Make sure the bulb is the right size and not touching any of the metal surfaces.

Foot control on my Juki 2010 sewing machine is not working, as if there's no power reaching it at all. There is power to my machine as indicated by light coming on when main power switch turned on.

Pam, Could be a bad/broken wire, may be repairable, you should take your pedal in to be tested, if diagnosed to be bad you may have to order a new replacement pedal. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

My brand new Singer 7463 will not sew, even though the lights, stitch settings, and everything else are completely fine.

The foot pedal is just a variable resistor to give you speed control of the motor
You say the machine is new so it will still be under warranty
have a service technician check it out
It could be a faulty control pedal or leads or motor

How to bring sewing foot holder to embroidery position

Hi, I hope this helps. If it doesn't post again.
"Check:
Place the sewing foot under the sewing foot
holder so that the pins of the foot snap into
the sewing foot holder when the presser foot
lifter is lowered.
Please check that the sewing foot is properly
engaged by raising the presser foot lifter
."

Question: Are you using top feed? If so:
"For all sewing jobs with the top feed, only use sewing feet with Cutout at the back (OA, 1A, 3, 4)."

Embroidery foot Part No.: 98-694-840-00 will not work with top feed.

Also, except for eyelets, the darning foot can be used for embroidery.

I'm not sure what you're trying to do :) darn or embroider :); I'm not sure what mode you're working in either; embroidery mode?

Darning with straight stitch
Program 00
Fit darning foot No. 6.
Set the needle at its highest position by turning
the handwheel, and push the pin of the darning
foot fully into the hole of the sewing foot holder
slightly pressing the darning foot between thumb
and forefinger. When doing this, the guide fork
should place itself around the presser bar and the
wire must be behind the fixing screw.
Darning position:
Lower the presser foot lifter pressing it lightly to
the rear until it snaps into the darning position.
Important Only in this position you have the
optimum thread tension for darning.

• Place the darning work in the darning hoop.
• Lower the feed dog.
• Pull up the bobbin thread and hold the threads
when you start sewing.
• Now guide the fabric back and forth evenly;
the length of the darn will be set by the size of
the hole. As you are determining the stitch
length yourself while sewing with the feed dog
lowered, you should sew at an even speed.
When you have reached the width of the dam
aged area, darn over the damaged area again
from right to left.
This guarantees a durable darn.
TIP: The faster you sew, the easier and more even
the darning will be. It you are moving the workpiece
too slowly, small knots will appear on the
wrong side of the fabric."

Whether working with terry-cloth or woven fabric,
with the help of the darning foot and the pro
gram 02 you can embroider initials of your own
design

Drop the feed dog and insert the darning foot.
Put the machine into the darning position.

Spread the fabric in an embroidery hoop and
embroider in accordance with program 02.

Lower feed dog
If the feed dog is not lowered for embroidering, the
machine does not embroider when the foot pedal
is pressed and the message appea rs:
Lower feed dog

ok?
The feed dog must be lowered in embroidery
mode.

Elna supermatic...the light comes on ,,but nothing else works

Turn the machine on, press the foot control down and turn the handwheel backwards. If it sputters, the motor carbon brushes are worn to the springs and need replacing.

Next, while pressing on the foot control, try wiggling the wires around where it enters to machine and where it enters the foot control. There may be a short in the cord. If the short is at the machine, you need a new cord. If it is at the foot control, the cord can be pulled into the foot control, the shorted part cut off and the connection reattached.

If it still doesn't work, try removing the cord from the machine and placing an alligator clip test lead to two of the inlet prongs on plugging it into power. Which two prongs you ask? Try several combinations, (one will light up the lamp) CAREFUL: THE MACHINE MAY SUDDENLY TAKE OFF AT FULL SPEED, SO REMOVE THE BOBBIN, THE THREAD AND NEEDLE FIRST. if it runs, it is your foot control. If it doesn't run, it's likely the motor brushes or motor.

My foot pedal started making noises as if it shorting out inside. can I fix it or get a new one? (model 537L) I've looked online to buy a nother pedal & can;t find the same model. I've seen similar...

The suppressor inside the control might be on the way out, if you can undo the foot control take it out and discard it because you don't need it these days, you can buy a new control which does not have to be a Necchi, a YDK foot control is just as good, if you have a lead that plugs into the foot control all you have to do is cut the plug off the end and wire the new control in, there are only two wires and it is very simple.

Runs full speed without pushing the pedal!!!

  1. it sounds like the filter capacitor has failed. the capacitor is usually located inside the foot control but may be inside the machine itself.
try taking the foot control apart (dis-connect from power first). you should see a component rectangular in shape connected to the wires in the foot control. dis-connect this component (it will not adversely affect the running of your machine) and then re-assemble the foot control and test. if this did not fix the problem see a tech.

The footpedal in my 1209 PFAFF gets hot when I sew.

If your machine is turning easily the following applies.
This is a carbon pile foot control (Not Electronic) and when in use for an extended period of time(like doing embroidery, piecing quilts) the foot controller will get hot. There's nothing you can do about this except wear shoes.
If your machine is not turning freely, then if needs to be seen by a technician to find out why.

Foot control for PFAFF won't work

These machines need to be seen by a technician who can disassemble the motors and replace the carbon brushes. You should have them serviced at the same time since it doesn't take that much longer to do everything.

Kenmore foot peddle going too fast to sew

The problem is either in the foot control or there is a short in your wiring. You can replace the foot control and hope that's where the problem is or Take it to a technician to be sure..The foot control will probably cost around $30-$50.
