The period prints as two vertical lines and a dot

Typewriter is less than a week old, starting the weird thing with the periods halfway through a document.

Those to vertical lines are due to the fact that hammer( the electronic striker) that smacks the back of the "daisy" whell ( the little disk with all the lerttres and stuff) the hammer is going between the " spokes"and is stricking the ribbon / paper and leaving what type-techs called dear tracks. 99% of the time the spoke is bent enough to allow this to accrue? Look very closely at the back of the "spokes" and see if there is any damage or bent spokes. If you have another disk change it and see if the letters that are acting up, stop. This the number one reason hands down. Good luck Bret

Printwheel ou of time or broken spoke on printwheel, try new wheel first, if not that switch on left side of carriage may be out of adjutment, see if printwheel is rotating when you turn on machine you should see it turn andhear it....

It may be that the "spoke" with the period on it has been bent. You can inspect the printwheel after removing it and if that is the case, just straighten it. If it is missing, replace the printwheel.

How do I reset the AE-800 to forward the ribbon? A repairman showed me once but I have lost the "cheat sheet"

While holding the code key down press the period key then release. If this does not work turn off typewriter. Insert a sheet of paper in the t/w in the wide position. Turn on t/w while holding down the MR and #1 key. The t/w will start printing on it own. Allow it to print out 7 lines and then turn the t/w off. That should reset the typewriter.

Will not print a period, strike sounds soft. Removed printwheel, reinstalled, lever will not click into place.

Try a shot of WD40 on the print solenoid plunger also there is slide switch on the left side of the KB for impression control, moveit to the large dot.

Print only in a dot dot or not clear

Is it clean? Most ink jet printers have a simple user procedure for cleaning the print heads. You may have to clean them periodically or after the printer has been idle for a few days or weeks. If you see funny colors or print-outs are missing colors, a cartridge may be empty or a head dirty. You may have to clean a head many times to get it working again.

Colors print blurred

I had that problem too. The weird thing was if I printed in black and white, the printing was fine. For me it looks like it was a new defective photoconductor unit. When I stuck the old one back in, no problem but my old one was producing 4 color dots all the way down the middle of the page. I went on eBay and brought a re-manufactured one (buy at your own risk) and the color printing was perfect again.

Typewriter won't print period or comma

The impact solenoid has a rubber cap on it that is worn out. This cap needs replaced and the impact mechanism adjusted.

Epson 9800 Prints black dotted vertical line

This is a workaround - I too need a definitive answer. Symptom: black dotted vertical line 1/2 to 3/4" from leftmost image edge. I have begun adding single vertical line to my prints .25" from the left edge of the paper to force the "dots" off my print - this seems to have the desired affect, but it does not answer the cause or provide a true remedy (it will save many of your prints while we wait for complete solution). dkh

Keyboard works then doesn't

take the phone and have it service then if that does not help the issue take it to a mobile service center and have them reflash the keypad with the flash file.

No picture

You have an intermittant vertical sweep circuit! It could be the vertical out put IC solder connections on the printed circuit board, or maybe the IC itself has poor connections between the IC and the contact legs that mount the IC, or another componet in the vertical sweep circuit. If you know how to solder and unsolder, work on printed circuit boards, then you shoul have no problem replacing the vertical sweep circuit. Good Luck
