Connect to network but no internet. there is no IGMP option for Enable/disable. where I found it for multicasting through Chromecast.

    Since the 740N only has V1 and the 741N has up to V5, I'd guess that SOMEONE, updted the router with the wrong firmware because they thought it would be better than the CORRECT firmware. Update the router with the latest CORRECT version of firmware.

In most cases "multicast" is on in devices. For example, that's how your Windows computer finds "other devices" on the network (through UPnP). However if your task requires more like "global presence", it depends on devices that build your network - switches, routers, firewalls, WiFi, etc. Some of them may support natively, some may require special configuration, and some may not support multicast at all. Then, when it gets bigger, it comes to the "multicast protocols" (for example, IGMP, PIM, etc.).

How do I enable multicast for chromecast with my DLink 600 - tried to log in but "page is not available". The router is wireless to my PC, ipad, android phone.
If your PC, iPad and smartphone work well with your router, the problem is with your chromecast. If can't set it up to work with the routes, I guess that it's "wireless adapter" or whatever makes it work, is defective. If it's new, you should return it to the shop where you bought it, should have warranty

  1. Check your NETGEAR router settings
  2. Uncheck Enable Wireless Isolation This step will disable AP Isolation.
  3. Uncheck Disable IGMP Proxying This step will turn Multicasting ON.

I had chromecast setup on laptop and iphone. AT&T changed out my modem and now laptop and iphone do not connect to chromecast. Power light on chromecast is white and blinking rapidly.
Hi, did they set your Wifi password back to the original one you had?

Can you still connect to your Wifi network with your phone or tablet?

Ensure that your Wifi password on your modem is the same as before or go though the initial setup again to enable that Chromecast to connect to your network again.

I have not worked with 3Com switches only Cisco, but I thought I would post this as I found it when googling:

multicast routing-enable pim
on the vlan interfaces:

interface Vlan-interfacex
ip address ***.***.***.*** ***.***.***.***
igmp enable
pim dm

Those commands should help you get multicasting to work. notice, Vlan-interfacex means you will have to do it for each Vlan you created. Some switches do not include multicast support in their base models but make you buy additional licenses to enable it. Cisco is like that, not sure about 3Com.

Even though it does not show the connection on your monitor, the connection may still be working. Did you post this problem from the same computer? If yes, then you are fine.

Problem with the network drivers
Check if your network conection is not disabbled...


1) Go to Start and click on Control Panel.
2) Control Panel window will appear. Double click on Network Connections.
3) Network Connections window will appear. Right click correct Local Area Connection by identifying the network card and type. If the connection is currently enabled, the first option in this menu will be Disable. Otherwise, the option will be Enable. Click on the Enable/Disable option to enable/disable your network connection.

Go to Start and click on Control Panel.
