Hi I am Vortash it sounds as if you are recieving good advice already , but I wish to point out that if you have seen smoke from the power supply board then this would mean that your set has an obvious fault . now you may be lucky and the power supply board is the only fault .. but it is more likely that the board has burned as a result of some other system overloading it and having the board alone repaired may cost you more as when you replace the board it may blow again ?.
I would strongly suggest that you have an engineer look at this under the free estimate that many offer , as it may in the long run save you money .. it may also save your set as merely replacing the board that has to cope with a fault still remaining may cause further damage to your already troubled set . again I wish you all the luck with your problem and hope you find a solution soon regards vortash
Hi, that red light flashing is an error code. It should flash a specific number of times and if you could count the number and let me know what it is, then it will help narrow down the specific problem with your tv.

Most of the time the convergance IC (Integrated Circuit) go bad. You might need an experienced tech to assist you in checking or replacing the convergence IC.
Try to unplug the TV and let it set for a good 20 minutes or so, go back and replug it in. If you still have the same issue it sounds like you either have an internal voltage issue or the lamp on the TV has failed. Either way you are going to need to contact Samsung and have them diagnose what exactly the lights are telling you, I've researched around and those color codes that you describe don't mean anything in particular, but a Samsung technician would know for sure. They will also be able to tell if you are covered under a warranty of any sort still, and would know where the closest authorized service person is.
So sorry we couldn't help more, here is the number for Samsung: 1-800-SAMSUNG
Hope this helps!
Thanks for your patience and understanding
Tim
Heat is the enemy of electronics, and these sets operate hot. You might wish to unplug the TV for an hour or more. If this power reset does not allow the TV to turn on component failure is indicated. These sets are assembled using the wave soldering process they are known for having cold solder connections. The safety circuitry shuts the TV set down when it detects a problem. This model of TV has over 3,000 parts which include millions of transistors inside the integrated circuits. The capacitors will change value, leak and become defective. Resistors will change value and burn. Integrated circuits and transistors can go bad. This can cause other components to become defective, which can have a domino effect and cause other parts to fail. Replacing one defective part may make the TV operate for a short time but the part will fail again since if the parts that caused the failure to begin with are not replaced. The only way to know for sure what is causing the problem, which parts that are no longer within factory specs and for proper repair all the electronics must be diagnosed by someone with the correct electronic test equipment and the skills to use the test equipment. I wish I could tell you there was a quick fix or button to push that would fix the TV but that is not the case or the solution needed to get the TV operating correctly.
If out of warranty, I expect this repair will be about $250 to $450 US, depending on how many parts are found to be out of factory specifications, if the problem is a bad circuit board, and if the board can be repaired or has to be replaced. A small TV repair shop will often charge less for the repair than a large electronics repair facility.
