get to the mainboard
there is a jumper near the cmos battery usually shows the
word (jbat) near it , try to change its position for some
seconds while power is off , this way will clear cmos and set the
mainboard bios to default settings.
start the system hit delete or F2 to enter setup then exit saving changes.

ps: check for RAM if installed properly

I repaired a A210 this week with a similar problem, it was due to overheating, I even had to reflow the GPU to repair it due to graphics errors.
Check that all of the air vents are left unblocked and that your fan is spinning and expelling warm/hot air. It is recommended you use your laptop on a hard flat surface to ensure some airflow under the laptop. You could try purchasing a can of compressed air and blowing it into the vents to loosen up any built up of dust and hair.
If you are skilled enough you could open the laptop up to completely clean the fans and heatsink. Whilst it is open you can remove the heatsink, clean the old thermal paste off of the CPU and GPU and apply a very thin, evenly spread layer of fresh thermal paste. My Toshiba laptop suddenly shuts down by itself without any warning. Sometimes it works fine for hours, sometimes it shuts down in 10-15 minutes. And from yestarday it is shetting down after 30seconds after...

 1. The keyboard and the bottom of your laptop are very hot when the laptop is working.
 2. The CPU fans are working all the time at maximum rotation speed and operate much louder than before.
 3. The laptop suddenly shuts down by itself without warning. When it just started, the laptop was shutting down after 1-2 hours and how it shuts down after 5-10 minutes of operation.
 4. The laptop works fine when it runs idle, but shuts down as soon as you start using any memory demanding applications (DVD player, image editing software, video editing software, etc.).

Solution:
If the CPU heatsink is not clogged with dust and lint completely, you can use canned air and just blow it inside the laptop through the openings on the bottom and on the sides. It's nice as a precaution measure, but it might not work if your laptop already has a problem and the heatsink is completely clogged.
 1. Open the laptop case, so you can access the CPU fan and the heatsink. In some cases you can access the heatsink through the latch on the bottom of the laptop. Sometimes you have to open the laptop case all the way down.
 2. Carefully disconnect the fan cables on the system board and remove the fan. If the fan makes unusual sound when it spins (grinding sound), I would recommend to replace the fan.
 3. Clean the fan and the heatsink with compressed air.
 4. I would also recommend removing old thermal grease from the CPU and applying new grease for better heat conductivity.
I decided to use a shop vac to suck the dust out and it worked. I tested it by letting the machine run all night and it worked. It's been a couple of weeks now and I'm glad I did it. I was ready to take the machine apart, now I'm glad I didn't. I'd suggest you use a heavy duty shop vac to clean out the fan and heat sinks first.I agree. Try to fix the problem without taking the laptop apart first but I would recommend using a powerful air compressor instead of a vacuum cleaner.
If your laptop is still under warranty, you can take it to any Toshiba Authorize Service Provider and fix the problem at no charge to you.

My laptop shut down after powering out with no warning and will not restart.... Toshiba L550 screen stays black but when I hit the enter key it beeps........any suggestions

“My Toshiba laptop suddenly shuts down by itself without any warning. Sometimes it works fine for hours, sometimes it shuts down in 10-15 minutes.” This complaint we hear from our customers over and over again. About 15-20% of all Toshiba laptops we get for repair, suffer from an overheating problem. Yep, OVERHEATING!
This is one of the most common problems with Toshiba laptops we deal with.
Indications of laptop overheating problem:

MY laptop screen will not lock in any open position. can the hinge points be accessed without completly opening the laptop?

Yes, a qualified technician can remove the U-shaped "covers" over the hinge, and then use a small crescent-wrench to tighten the hinges.
Less than 30 minutes of "work"; probably less than $30 to get it done "safely" by an "expert".

hi! you should try removing the hard drive and restarting your laptop with your windows cd in it. if this works then switch off and slot the hard drive back in & reboot. if the display still doesnt work, then the strap / cable that connects the laptop screen to the laptop is damaged. then only should u take it to the dealer for repairs.

Problem with Toshiba Laptop A215-S7437

I bought a Toshiba 215 on Jan. 11th. After about 2 weeks of having it, it started doing the same exact thing. I took it back on Feb. 8th to Best Buy. The Geek Squad had it for a few days and said my optical drive was bad and that I could replace it because it had been less than 30 days. I've had my laptop now for 4 days and the thing just shut off AGAIN!!!! I seriously think this is definately a Toshiba Laptop problem as I've been reading tonight and have found many people with this same problem!
