How can i transfer music to my laptap using usb cable

To download/transfer files to computer, you need 2 softwares from yamaha website. USB MIDI drivers and MUSICSOFT DOWNLOADER.
Install drivers first,and then Musicsoft Downloader.
Connect keyboard to PC/notebook by USB cable.
Run Musicsoft Downloader.
If you click "Electronic Musical Instrument" in the Musicsoft Downloader display.and then "System Drive", a file named "08PG76BUP" will appear in the lower right corner of the Musicsoft Downloader display. This is the backup file that will transfer to computer.
Usually yamaha came with CD-ROM that contain divers and softwares + user manual,so you don't need to download.

Do you have a usb cable for that or for anything else or check if you have a usb cable for to a compute from that anythinh else.

It doesn't use a USB to MIDI adapter (such as the UX-16.) It has an onboard MIDI controller and uses a standard USB A-B cable. You just need to install the driver from the CD-ROM or here, and plug it in. You can get the manual from the same page or here. Setup is on page 99.

Check out your owner's manual. Between pages 85 to 96 it tells you all the information you are seeking. Hope that helps.

The keyboard will NOT show up on MY COMPUTER as it does not have memory to record and save MIDI files... It will PLAY them real time as the computer sends the data to the keyboard. You can't transfer and save the files IN the keyboard. Some higher level keyboards do have memory and even hard drives... this one does not. This one will have some built in,that you can play but even those you cannot access as if they were memory.
With the USB cable connected, you should be able to see the device listed in the device manager section of the control panel under system hardware.

Recording a new tune automatically deletes the previous one.
Solution transfer the recorded song to your computer via USB cable.
It is also possible to store up to 5 additional tunes in the song bank

Yes, if you have "line out" from 788. You will need appropriate cables to attach to PC sound card.

the correct way to transfer files from the piano to a computer is via the MIDI out socket on the piano ...not the jack
