  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

You probably have a defrost problem or your fan in the freezer is not working . Is there frost on the back wall inside the freezer section ?What brand do you have ? Is it a side by side or top freezer ?

Sounds like the circulating fan is wearing out. This fan supplies circulation for the freezer as well as the refrigerator when the motor for this fan starts to wear out the circulation supplied is reduced to a point that the freezer will work but not the refrigerator because the fan does nnot run fast enough to circulate the air thru the refrigerator. The minimum cost to repair/replace this fan assemble is around $300.00

My RJ 523V-R refrigerator has worked perfectly for 8 years, but suddenly stopped cooling the fridge properly while the freezer seems ok. how can I fix this?

Often times their is a fan from the freezer section to the refrigerator section, of some brands of boxes. If the fan goes out, the refrigerator sections no longer cools.

Refrigerator section warm. Freezer section OK.

Most likely it's a defrost system problem. One of the heaters could be bad and that will cause the coils to freeze up reducing the amount of cold air the fan can push into the fridge. Sounds wierd but, trust me, that could be your problem. Mine did that two years ago.

Fridge section runs warm. Freezer ok it seems.

Sounds like the inside fan is getting worn out. Should vary in speed. Try replacing the fan and see if that fixes it. I'd bet it will. ken

WHIRLPOOL CB18M FRIDGE FREEZER

3 things to check. If you didn't adjust the damer from the freezer to the refrigerator, like closed it off. Is the freezer fan running? The fan blows air from the freezer to the refrigerator section. Some fans shut off when the door is open so you may have to push in the door switch to check this out.
Look for ice on the back wall, of the freezer section, If present then the defrost cycle is not working. The evap. coil is icing up and there is no air blowing into the refrigerator. Set the thermostat back to the normal setting it just causes a longer run time on the freezer section.

THE MAIN FRIDGE IS NOT WORKING, THE TEMPERATURE SEEMS TO BE VERY WARM. THE LIGHT INSIDE THE FRIDGE IS WORKING OK AND SO IS THE SOUNDER WHEN THE DOOR IS LEFT OPEN.

Listen for the fan that is in the freezer section. The fridge part relies on the freezer fan to get it's cold air. Only the freezer section gets cold...the fan in the freezer blows cold air through ducting to the fridge to get it cool. Either the fan is bad or the air ducting to the fridge is restricted by ice. If the airway is restricted by ice then your defrost timer is bad. Good luck.

Samsung side by side

Check for snow on the back wall of the freezer compartment, Air to cool the refrigerator is supplied from the freezer section. If the coil is frozen over the air circulation becomes retarded and the refrigerator suffers. Snow on the back wall indicates a defrost problem.

Defrosting a fridge freezer

No. All the cooling comes from the freezer unless you have one of the few split systems. A hairdryer will help but the fridge will warm up some.

Warm Fridge Section

sounds like the evaporator fan in the freezer is not moving the air. also there is an air damper door at the top center of the fridge that controls air flow from the freezer to the fridge. check those two components and you will find your problem.
