To save caller ID with a name in Panasonic KX-AT7730, you need to follow these steps:
Press the "Program" button on the phone.
Dial "9" to enter the "Caller ID" setting.
Dial "1" to enter the "Caller ID Memory" setting.
Dial the memory location number (0-99) where you want to save the caller ID and name.
Enter the caller's phone number using the keypad.
Press the "#" button to move to the next field.
Enter the caller's name using the keypad (use the alphanumeric keys to enter letters).
Press the "#" button again to save the entry.
Repeat steps 4-8 for each caller ID you want to save.
Note: Caller ID service must be enabled on your phone line for this feature to work. Also, make sure you have enough memory locations available in your phone's memory to save new caller IDs.
I think you might be confusing the counter that keeps rack of caller ID information, and the counter that tracks messages stored in the answering machine - two different things, different purposes.
The answering machine part displays "new messages", but can store "old messages". For the caller ID part, look for a button on the handset that says "caller ID" - hit that, and then there will be a scroll up/down pair of buttons - you can look through your received caller IDs. Their may be a delete button on the phone (It's not clear what model you have), which will allow deleting that caller ID out of memory, but if not, having viewed the numbers, your "20" on the message counter should reduce.
Usually Nokia phones are such that you dont need to turn on the caller id feature. As long as the contact of the person who is calling you is saved on the mobile device the phone automatically identifies who the caller is. The only caller id feature which has to be activated will be from the mobile company to allow whoever is calling you to have their number displayed on your device. To get more info on this simply call your mobile company's customer care. Hope this solution has been helpful?
