You give no details what job has been sent to the printer before that. Probably your printer settings about the paper are some standard for your area like A4 for example, but you are trying to print a file, received from a place on earth, where the paper used in printers is different format and the file has been prepared for print on Legal, for example. To reset the process, find the print job in your Devices and Printers folder and delete it. Then power cycle the printer. Then check the document and make ajustments to it fitting the printer settings. Then print it again.

For any paper mismatch issue, first thing you do is try to set the paper type to plain. This will fix the issue in most of the cases.

hello, the problem is there are 2 sensors that could be causeing this problem there is an optic sensor on the carraige unit, on the right hand side. with power on, open cover as if you are going to replace ink, pull power cord out of printer, move carraige over to left, with a moist paper towel, i would clean the optic sensor, only the lower portion of this area, the area that glides over the paper, make sure you do not pull on the white or by now blackish color on the electronics, this can get damaged easily. go ahead and close cover and power up, and try again, now the other sensor you have to look at is the one that you will be able to see from the back area of the machine, when you remove the duplexor, if one is added to machine, or back cover. it is located on the left hand side in the upper area, it hangs down, use compressed air in this area, make sure that this flag moves freely. if you checked everything, then the machine will need carraige unit, replace it with the exact same machines carraige. since there are about 4 types of these carraiges out there.
Selecting which tray is used for printing
You can select how the printer pulls paper from the trays.
Understanding tray order
When the printer receives a print job, it selects the tray by trying to match the requested paper
type and size with what has been loaded in the trays. Using an "autoselect" process, it searches
all available trays for the paper that satisfies the request, starting with the bottom tray and ending
with the top tray (tray 1). The printer begins printing the job as soon as it finds the proper type/
size.
Note The "autoselect" process occurs only if no specific tray is requested for the job. If a specific tray
is requested, the job prints from the requested tray.
If paper is loaded in tray 1 and tray 1 is set TRAY 1 TYPE=ANY and TRAY 1 SIZE=ANY on the
Paper Handling menu, the printer will always pull paper from tray 1 first. See "Customizing
tray 1 operation" on page 47 for more information.
If the search fails, a message appears on the printer control panel display requesting that
you load the correct paper type/size. You can load that paper type/size, or you can override
the request by selecting a different type/size at the printer control panel.
If a tray runs out of paper during a print job, the printer automatically switches to any tray that
contains the same paper type/size.
The autoselect process changes somewhat if you customize tray 1 operation (as explained in
"Customizing tray 1 operation" on page 47) or set tray 1 for manual feed (as explained in
"Manually feeding paper from tray 1" on page 49). See if this works. Good luck !
