Have a Hansol H950 monitor which is giving me problems coming on . Screen is black and takes several attempts to get it on so can be used. I know it is out of warranty but understand this is a defect after reading some articles. Can this be fixed or exchanged as I like the quality of resolution.

Some of those monitors have had a problem where the large HDMI cable attaches to the back of the monitor. Try inserting the HDMI cable then instead of tightening the screw supports power up the monitor and wiggle it slightly if the monitor works then the problem is in the connector and may need to be resolderd on the inside. have you tried using another HDMI cable to rule out that the cable itself isnt defective?

Most likely the power supply, or the back-plane lamps, or the back-plane supply, or a defect on one of the processor boards is loading the supply too much, or any combinations of these are defective. You will have to have a source to try the boards to fix the monitor. I would suggest to find the authorized service rep for your monitor. They will have to service it for you. If the monitor is out of warranty, the fix will not be cheap!

Hi, the hansol H950 uses a power supply combination inverter board. No. FSP048-3PI01 The electrolytic capacitors go bad quite regulary. The most common ones that go bad are 1000uf-10v and 470uf 25v. There are a total of 5 of these on the board. If you can solder it shouldn't cost over $10. The next thing to check would be fuse F1 4A 125v microfuse. if it is open (ie blown) you probably have a short in the inverter section of the board (4 ic's underneath the board) Solution....replace the board.
A new board can be had for around $100

The backlight power supply in the H950 series suffers from a manufacturing defect. Hansol might replace the unit even if it's not covered by warranty anymore. Contact them.
Otherwise (and if you have electronics skills), replace the electrolytic caps in the monitor's power supply. Take proper high voltage precautions!
