Intermiitent high pitch droning sound suddenly starts. Stops when brakes are applied. Starts again when brakes released. Has happened twice. Drives normally without sound at other times.
There is a metal tab on some pads that contacts the rotor to make hideous noises telling the driver they need to replace the brake pads. It's in your owner's manual.

u need to replace the front brake pads..the noise u hear it the brake pad warning indicator tell u ur brake pads are about to start grinding into ur brake rotors.....
sounds like emergency brake is on or the switch is broken try releasing it and see if you maybe hit it if not apply it and release it and see if that fixes your issue good luck
I have the exact same problem, however reversed. My whistling sound stops when I accelerate and starts when my foot is off the accelerator. Frustrates me and am afraid to have it looked at for fear of the cost of fixing this problem. Have you since discovered what the problem is or was?
The high pitch sound may come from the brake pads as metal parts hit the disc to signal the owner that it needs change. The metal parts gets exposed when the pads have worn out. The brake also has a hub to cover the disc. See if the metal plate is hitting it but this issue would appear when the wheels are in motion. Check if it is the belts, have the tension checked out. Other than that the bearings are the other items on your wheel that could cause a high pitched sound when you car is in motion.
Sounds like rust build up on the rotors, this is a common problem with after market rotors,or it is a squealer tab and they squeal to warn you before damage is done to the rotors when brake pads are 2/3 worn down.have a brake inspection done.
