Your switch is simply defective. Replace the switch.

Should the compressor engage before we start filling the R134? or during the filling? or do we potentially have a Hi/low pressure switch problem?

Did you vacuum the sys and make sure there is no leaks in the system. The compressor will kick in when you get the R134a at the operating level as the pressure sw on the dryer controls that.

My mercedes slk automatic does not seam to disengage when i stop keeps pulling

Have the codes read. Could be with the TCC solenoid or pressure switch to the TCC keeping the converter partially engaged. If it where fully engage the car would die. Check this soon as it will burn something up in the transmission..IE.. Clutches and more.

A/c compresor not engaging

Yes, freon must be present in the system in order to circulate the oil that lubricates your compressor. A low pressure switch is used to stop the compressor from running if the freon level/pressure is low. This is to keep your compressor from destroying itself due to lack of lubrication.

There are also several other reasons that an A/C compressor will not engage. Proper diagnosis is required.

I have a 2008 escape and the air conditioner stopped working. The clutch will not engage and I put a volt meter on the plug and I get nothing. I checked the fuses, relay and diode all appear ok. Is there a...

The clutch will not engage if it is low on freon. It has a high pressure switch and a low pressure switch which keeps the power from the compressor so no damage will happen. Have the freon checked.

My A/C stopped blowing cold air How can I diagnose problem

No Blower or just lost A/C function. Just A/C, Look for refrigerant leaks, electronic leak check leaks, scan for a/c related data, put gauges on system and pressure check. All good you got pressure switches and more. Forgot to watch for compressor clutch engagement assuming you have system pressure. That's a start ,will keep you busy for a couple hours. Let us know how you make out.

I have a 1998 Buick LeSabre when I start the car it sounds like the car is still trying to start. When I but it into reverse or drive it will stop. I turned the key with out starting the car and ran...

the neutral switch is to prevent the starter from engaging if not in park or neutral - try just bumping the key switch without holding it - the key lock or ignition switch could be keeping power on starter or the starter solenoid could be keeping the starter engaged someone would have to be under the car listening or touching the starter to see this or measuring voltage on solenoid wire

2000 nissan altima when you hit the a/c button the a/c does not engage. if you keep the switch on and the a/c is working then a/c keeps working.

Generally the A/c Switches are Push On and Push Off type, when you push the switch it should remain on, but it does not, So replace the switch, to confirm the switch is bad, you join the 2 wires come in Switch I mean short them on, your A/C should remain on. It proves that your A/C switch is bad. Thank you.

check for leaks in the vacuum, Jeep used a vacuum switch for the front axle during that time on the dana 30, it may have a leak or just worn where its not fully engaging and lockign all the way. It may not be holding the air as well to keep it engaged. Its a small tube.
