Been trying to download everything but I see server error with red box but INternet Available is Green. been like that for a couple days. even reinstalled homebase to make sure not a problem. same with disabling AV. using windows 8
Had the same issue. After weeks, and 2 calls to Cobra later w/o success, it clicked in my head...router firewall!
Temporarily change your firewall settings to minimum security and you should see the server error disappear and server available show up in Cobra HomeBase. Download what you wish to update and then reset your router firewall to the security level you had it on originally.

Download the TomTom Home application and install it on your computer. Connect the unit to the computer, turn it on and when it asks you to connect to computer tap Yes. The Home application will launch and communicate with the GPS. You will have to supply a valid email address and finalize the registration. The update should then be done automatically.
