1 Replacing your iPod's screen is actually a lot easier than you would expect. The kind folks at Apple have made access to the inside of the iPod very easy, making for quick upgrades and fixes. While you have the iPod open, you can also upgrade the internal hard drive to a much larger capacity to hold more movies, music and photos. Replacement screens for the iPod are very easy to come by these days, so get a hold of one of those from an online retailer and replace it yourself, instead of getting charged by Apple to do something you can easily do at home.
2 Use your flat screwdriver and gently insert it into the small crack between the iPod case and the iPod backing. Once you have the tool slightly inside the crack, slide it around the entire iPod to pry the pieces apart. Be very careful not to pull them apart, as there are three ribbon connectors that need to be disconnected first.
3 Lift up the ribbon connector that connects to the hard drive, which is large and blue, and disconnect the hard drive. Release the ribbon that connects to the battery, the smaller blue object, and disconnect it. Release the final ribbon by lifting up its tab. Unhook the final ribbon to disconnect it.
4 Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the six screws around the iPod front cover. Remove the frame of the iPod front cover. Unhook the screen's ribbon and pull out the iPod screen. Insert your new iPod screen and work backward to put everything back together. Don't forget to connect all of the ribbons

5 Turn on your iPod to test your new iPod screen.

i have heard that if you take it into a apple stor they can fix it but im not suer on taht.. im dealing with the same problem.

Send it back to apple and get it repaired, you have cracked the crystal and it is now down for the count. you can't fix this, apple can tho.

my screen on my ipod touch is cracked from one corner to the other...it still works fine, but doesn'tlook very good. my limited warranty hasn't expired, but i don't have the apple care thing. I don't know what to do! please help.
