If the fans are running too slow, it'll shut down. it needs the fans to run at a certain speed to get enough cfms to ensure proper cooldown. if one is lagging, the lamp or power supply may not cool enough and cause damage. find out which one.

OK, the thing is, if the fan is not rotating at all, you will need to replace it. The problem related to the computer shutting down, is the fact that the CPU overheats, and then shuts down the computer to protect the system components.
