Need schematic for this assembly. as i took it apart a tapered pin and small ball berging fell out. need to know how to re assemble

Hi We do not have this vehicle here, need to know what type of suspension it has, more than likely it is a McPherson strut assembly, if it is the bottom ball joint will need to be released, I have found some very tight and have had to use both a portable hydraulic tool or the heavy duty pneumatic pickle fork with real good air pressure, one I had to warm the tapered eye boss area with a gas torch with the hydraulic tool at max. One other method is to leave the ball joint nut on loosely, heat the tapered eye area and with a very heavy duty brass drift and heavy hammer hit the side of the tapered eye assembly, this may pop the tapered ball joint bolt free. This is not at times an easy home workshop repair, you will need to be a very mechanical person, good luck. P.

Inspect/Test/Service/Replace Removing Ball Joint Tapers from the Steering Knuckle
The ball joint is connected to the steering knuckle with a tapered connection, called a steering taper, which is also used in other steering connections.

Another way of "breaking" the taper is to use a large hammer.

• First, remove the cotter pin from the ball joint nut and loosen the nut several turns.
• Position the vehicle so that the coil spring is pushing on the ball joint. This could require lifting the vehicle or allowing its weight to rest on the wheels.
• Use a hammer to pound sharply on the steering knuckle on the outside of the taper. this will deform the taper and spring pressure will separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle.

Position vertical link/hub assembly on lower ball joint taper pin, install securing nut and tighten to 44-59 ft. lbs. (60-80Nm).

Install nut securing upper ball joint to vertical link and tighten to 44-59 ft. lbs. (60-80Nm).

Position tie rod ball joint taper pin on steering arm and install and tighten securing nut to 53-63 ft. lbs. (71-85Nm).

Install the hub/bearing assembly. Tighten to 90 Nm.

1. Remove the wheel and tire assembly. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04 .

1. Remove the suspension lower arm ball joint cotter pin.

1. Remove the suspension lower arm ball joint nut and separate it from the wheel knuckle.

May have to leave nut partially on and hit the nut hard with a hammer to knock the tapered stud down and out. May have to hit side of knuckle to help get it to drop. or rent a pickle fork to drive between the bal joint and knuckle.

1. Remove the suspension lower arm ball joint to suspension lower arm nuts and remove the ball joint.

okay this can get tricky there are several ways to do this. How i do it I disconect the lower ball join you will need a pry bar to get the lower aframe apart i then take the hub assembly apart if locking hubs. if full time four wheal drive there is a cap at the center of the hub remove cap and take carter pin out remove nut, if has hubs like i said take hub assembly apart may need a tool looks like a big socket remove nut pull rotar assembl off and to the side ussually will swing to the front of the vehicle look at the back of the shaft if goes streight into transfer case should pull right out it may have a plate with several small bolts remove bolts should fall right out. to enstall reverse proceedure. I recommend having a haynes or chiltons manual so you know what the parts look like and what goes where.

I am going to make some assumptions here , by housing , i'm thinking that you mean the hub/knuckle assembly. when you say pickle fork , I'm thinking that you are talking about a boll joint seperator fork. So........based on those assumptions , I'm thinking that you are having trouble getting the lower ball joint to pop out of the knuckle assembly.
I checked a parts suplier and looked at the ball joint . It is not a tapered fit into the knuckle , it is a strait stud with a dished groove around it. That tells me that there will be a bolt going across the ball joint from one side to another. The ball joint shaft will not come out of the knuckle untill the bolt is completely removed , loosening it will not work. Good luck

It sounds like it came off the track. Take the panel off the door and inspect. Sometimes the rivets they use break, if that is all replace with small bolts.

If it is a yellow ish color almost ball with an oring on it and a stick protruding on one side it is instaled in the transmission case where the dipstick tube goes. It is only there to prevent fluid from spilling durring vehicle assembly at the factory. Just put it in the trash. it serves no other purpose after vehicle assembly.
