I've lost my Olympus az 1 charger can I charge from usb

I had the same problem with the P10 not charging via USB, I purchased mine second hand so it came with no charger. I assumed it would charge by the USB cable but it did not, the red light flashes but doesn't charge. Luckily I have an external battery charger for a different camera i got some years ago that takes a similar battery , the P10 battery didn't fit properly so I had to place it at a 45 degree angle into the charger making sure the outer contacts were lined up properly and taped it into place. After an hour it was fully charged and the camera is working fine. The charger is a 4.2 volt charger. New external chargers can be picked up on ebay cheaply

The A3100 comes with a separate battery charger. The camera does not charge with a USB cord.

No, you cannot charge the battery in the camera via the USB port. You need to use the LI-40C or LI-41C charger or equivalent.

There are 3 possibilities to charge the battery of the camera:

1. Connecting the Olympus' USB cable to camera and computer.
2. Connecting the wall charger to the camera with Olympus' USB cable.
3. Using a specific separate wall charger for LI-50B batteries.

Be sure to connect the cable well and if the orange LED does not light when trying to charge the battery using above points 1 and 2, there might want to exchange the Olympus' USB cable first to check what's wrong. (Cable model: CB-USB6). Another point is to check if the battery is seated well in the camera.

Difficult to say what is causing this. There are a few possibilities. 1. USB cable. 2. Charger. 3. Battery and 4. The camera itself.
Check if the problem persist with loading at the PC and the charger. If so, i would first replace the battery. Otherwise contact Olympus for advice or repair.

Firstly check your charger. I was having problems with my batteries packing up after about 1 hours use. Now I only charge 2 at a time (its a 4 battery charger) and the problem is no more.
There is a limited life on batteries, check how old they are and if you've had them more than 3 or 4 years, I suggest you buy replacements. John

you can't. you need a charger since this camera doesn't charge via USB when connected to PC. If you need to buy one, i hope this link helps..

These cameras can't be charged via the USB because there is no charger built into the camera. You will need to buy a new charger.
