A PTC is a resistor that is used to demagnetize a Color Ray Tube. I do not know if a LCD screen has to be demagnetize too.

Hi Guys
Same problem, The best way I found getting around it is to unplug the power for couple of seconds, replug it. Screen starts up with wrong resolution. So I reset set the resolution to 1280 x 960 , 60Hz. If i set it to recommended, the problem re-occurs. Screen looks acceptable on my 15" with 1280x960. Just trying to safe some cash to buy a nice big screen for editing in the future so this solution works well for the moment. Oh by the way I am running the screen from my MackbookPro. It helped to sort out the problem cause I mirrored the displays so I could see what I was doing while figuring it out.

From now on I'll power down the screen+unplug properly every time it's not in use.

SAME WITH ME GUYS, I THINK THE COMPONENT IN LCD ALREADY BROKEN. MY FRIEND TELL ME THAT PTC COMPONENT IS BROKEN. THE PROBLEM IS I DON'T HAVE THE SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM FOR SAMSUNG 510N. IF WE UNPLUG THE POWER CORD ABOUT 1 HOURS AND PLUG IT AGAIN IT'LL NORMAL AGAIN AND THE"PTC" COMPONENT IS RESPONSIBLE TO THAT JOB.

SOURCE: NOT OPTIMUM MODE

Solder a 50 ohm precision resistor between pins 5 and 6 of the Novatek NT68F63LG

I had this same problem on 3 Samsung 710N displays and this fixed the problem.

I have read others have also been successful but the value of theresistor was slightly different in some cases. I would start with 50ohms as that seems to be a common value fixing most displays.

Here is the reference URL to the ORIGINAL person that solved the problem.

I have the same problem. I get a box with "not optimum mode. But what I need is a picture of the mainboard with the 50 ohm resistor between pin5 and pin6.

hello
I am a technician-informatic. I have repaired about 80 Lcd Samsung monitors with theese problems. I offer the repair manual.
Manual has been done with the experience of the repairing Samsung Lcd monitors. Manual was made by me and shows how to open monitor, how

to solve dark screen problem, how to check and replace capacitors, how to solve the problem non-optimal mode (without reprogramming MCU or
changing the main board) photo are included. 100% functional. The repair process is very simple 30-40min. (does not need a lot of
experience in electronics and expensive instruments) and is not expensive. With this manual you can solve problems by yourself and save
money.

"Not Optimum Mode 1280x1024 60Hz"
- The monitor turns on but turns off by itself, the LED blinks green.
- If you detach from the PC points to "control cable" the picture runs continuously in the vertical direction or presents while line , and
as soon as it is reconnected, the monitor goes off.
- The monitor does not turns on and dont dispaly anything, the LED blinks green-lit, if you detach from pc points to "control cable".
- The monitor turns on, works well some time, but after a window apiers "Not optimum mode. Mode recommended 1280X1024 60Hz"
- The monitor turns on, works well only with low resolution 800x600, when try to change a window that reads "Not optimum mode. Mode
recommended 1280X1024 60Hz"

the manual you can find on ebay (my ebay name is asnerejas123):
