SOURCE: My salt light stays on

HI,

You can buy dishwasher salt in almost every supermarket. It can usually be found in the section with other household cleaning products such as soaps and washing powders. Make sure you are buying dishwasher salt. Do not use table salt or any other type of salt not designed for use with dishwashers.

You have not been charged for this information ;)

I have a Danby DDW1899WP portable dishwasher. I just got it yesterday. I had a lot of dirty dishes so I did 1 cycle first and it worked perfectly, I was impressed. I then started a 2nd cycle for the rest...

I realize the above question is almost 4 years old, but I am sure others are still having this problem. My Danby was behaving the same way: drying cycle light would flash like it was having a myocardial infarction, and the cycle would stop. I could only get the light to stop flashing by turning the unit off. What you didn\'t say above is what happens then: everything most likely returns to normal-- or at least, so it seems. I have now had this happen to me two times in a row with my Danby 1899WP. Each time the machine has started up just fine, drains water out, loads in fresh water, and begins the wash cycle, only to freeze up with that damn flashing red light on the dry cycle and the dishes not clean. I have owned it for about two months, and so far this is my only complaint. I am running it again right now, for the third time, and we shall see what that light does now.... Will report back afterward!

Danby Dishwasher stuck in drain cycle after wrong soap use

There might be water in the overflow sensor. I unloaded the dishwasher and lifted the front so the dishwasher rested on its back. There's a narrow gray tube that runs down from the bottom right of the door. The tube runs into a white piece of plastic with some wires coming out of it. There is a rubber plug that covers a nipple on the plastic. Pull the rubber plug off. Mine was quite tight. Tip the dishwasher back onto its casters to drain the water from the overflow. Check to see if the dishwasher functions normally, then put the rubber plug back on.

Washer won't advance from cycle to cycle

When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

* It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never
advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace
the timer.

* It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates,
drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

My Amana Model NDG5800AWW dryer has ceased to dry clothes dependably. The Only setting that still sort of works is HIGH timed drying, and this heats up to what used to be the "delicate" setting....

if you are using the auto dry setting and the dryer is still running after 5 hours you either have a timer issue or a thermostat problem.

The timer is driven by a motor, if the timer motor is bad the timer wont time out.

in the auto dry cycle the thermostat has to cycle off and on which then sends power to the timer again advancing the timer.

set the timer in a timed dry cycle for say ten minutes, if the timer advances and turns off then you know the timer works. if it doesnt advance you have a timer motor issue,

if the problem is the auto cycle, you could replace the thermostat, about $20 american. however a clock timer would be cheaper.

Based on how old is your machine and do you want to stick a timer in it after already paying the service man is up to you.

A basic bath towel load should be dry in about 50 minutes, this varies on how good your seals are and how long a vent you are running, if the dryer vent was plugged you already have shortened the life of your heating element.
