First thing to verify is that it is fully charged. You should see a green light indicating that it is charged completely. If it does not come one then, press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds. That may get it to start up.

you should try it from any another charger but if it still doesn't work then you have to take your kindle to service centre because its charging socket is broken

A new, free software update available for your Kindle Fire HD 7" (2nd Generation). This update automatically downloads and installs on your Kindle Fire when connected wirelessly; however, you can also manually download the software and transfer the update to your device via USB cable.

Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings, and then tap More.

Download & Install Software Updates Automatically.

Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings, and then tap Sync. The software update automatically downloads in the background, and installs after the download is complete and the device is asleep. Your Kindle Fire will restart during the software update. After the restart, the message"Kindle is upgrading" will appear on the screen.

I have my mother's kindle fire after her *****. It will not charge and stay charged. I have bought new chargers and the problem is still there. What can I do to resolve this?
