No, a GPS device will only receive signals from the satellites in space. A GPS will never transmit any signal to the satellites because it's a one way communication.
If you have the serial number (you can find it on the device itself or on the box) you could go to the police and inform them your GPS was stolen and provide them your serial number. If you're lucky and the police finds a gang of thieves and they find lot's of stolen things, they will check the serial numbers through the police computer to check if they're not reported as stolen. Then there is a chance you will get your GPS back.

Can't help you this time but when you purchase anything you should have a note book and write all the information in it then you would not have this problem. A lot of people do not think of these things.

I have a Lumix FZ8.( Assuming the formatting of both boxes are the same) There should be a white coding label on the side of the box; The top code is the model# ,the middle code is the serial#, and the bottom is the UPC (universal product code)

Hi, On the side of the box there should be barcodes, the serial tends to be a mixture of letters and numbers where as the product identifier is just numbers. If you need more help let me know.

Giving the police the serial number will only help if it turns up somewhere such as a pawn shop. They cannot "track" the camera by the serial number.

The serial number isn't on the box unfortunately... but it should be on your sales receipt. That rectangle hole that is cut in your xbox's box is the way to see the xbox system's serial number through the box but they don't print it on the box itself. When you buy an XBox 360, the salesperson scans the barcode from the back of the XBox which contains the serial number.

Using the software is not going to help you locate the serial number for the camera.

The serial number for the camera is located on the warranty card that came with the camera. You also may be able to contact Olympus Customer Service if you registered the camera on their website as they may be able to look up that information for you. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3

Do you still have the original box? the numbers, id etc are on it as well.
