May hinge on cleaning the lens, if so do I remove them from their housing ?
SOURCE: I have a Mitsubishi SL2U
If the focus lens is meant to be taken off from the front, it can be unscrewed, howevery I believe you will have to take another approach.
I tried to take one of these apart one time, and all I could figure out was that I had to take the whole lens piece off, and get to the lenses from the rear of the assembly, so to speak.
Here is the manual:

Wish I had a diagram, but hope this will help.
The most likely cause for this is a zoom or focus lens out of place or impaired in some way. This will require disassembling the camera to remove the lens assembly and then disassembling the lens block to repair. This can be done fairly inexpensively but it's not really a user serviceable problem and should be repaired by a qualified service technician.
