The monitor does not show a light to say it's on or off and no picture appears. It was all working last night. Is it a fuse that's gone and, if so, any ideas on how to fix it?

SOURCE: No power to monitor

Sounds like one problem: A failed monitor. For sure, try another monitor on the PC first, in order to rule it out (hopefully!) So... your otherwise standard-looking power cable has a fuse in its plug and that fuse was blown? Then you put a standard power cord on the monitor but it was still dead? If this is the case, then the monitor needs component-level troubleshooting, probably in the power supply section.

My monitor appears to have no power. No front lights though the power cable is good.

Hello Dave,

Check the power light, if it is faintly blinking then this link should help you get it going. That model is well known to have a problem on the control board that causes the monitor to not power up right.

This VE155 uses wallwart 12vdc 3.5A power supply, you need to check first to see if it is putting out 12vdc.

My monitor doesn't go on anymore. Las night I had a pop-up appearing on the screen. I closed my computer and started over again. I'm sure I didn't turn off my monitor. Everything went well until this...

Hi there,

First, check to make sure the power cable is plugged properly in the back of the monitor and into the surge protector. You can try a different power outlet, but if you're still having the same problem and the light isn't turning on, it's likely you've either blown the fuse inside the monitor, or you had a power surge and blown something inside the monitor. This happens when you don't use a surge protector and just plug the monitor into the wall.

That said, if the above doesn't work then you have a hardware problem with your monitor and it needs to be serviced.

Try a different video card or disconnect the one you have in your PC and use the VGA monitor connection on the motherboard. If it works your video card is gone.

When I want to take a photo, the monitor is blank, rather than showing what I am pointing the camera at. Last time I used it, it was ok... what has gone wrong? Thanks

If the D40 monitor showed you the image while taking the picture, there was something seriously wrong with the camera, which now appears to have fixed itself.

The D40 works as SLRs have worked for half a century, giving you the image through the viewfinder. The LiveView capability, allowing you to use the LCD monitor like a point&shoot camera, is a relatively new development, which Nikon introduced with the D3 and D300 a year after the D40.

Flashing light nothing else

Doesn't sound like a virus. Sounds like a fuse or something else is out. A red light isn't good. If the monitor is ok you get an amber light. I would suggest this monitor is gone. Sorry.

There is a body control module that may cause this issue, it has the ability to be tested, have that done first.
