I think you're confusing 2 different things as one thing! Your router has an ssid, so that when you want to connect the kindle to the Internet, you find the ssid to connect the kindle to the Internet throught the ssid you set in your router. Then you go to amazon and authorize your kindle.
SSID is the "name" of your wireless internet router, you will be able to find it by checking what internet connection point you are connected to on your pc, if you are connected to it ofcourse.
If you are not connected to your wireless router, you should be able to find it by connecting your PC to the router with a ethernet cable.
The video shows how to find your SSID easily, if you are connected to the wireless network you want to find the SSID for. The one which says "Maaseide69" is my SSID.
All you have to do is to click on the Internet connection icon, which is on XP, Vista, Windows 7 & 8.
The ssid number is the name you gave your wireless router when you were setting it up. If you do not have a wireless router, then you will need one to connect it wirelessly to the internet. Check your router's manual and it will tell you how login to the router and get the ssid from the wireless settings
If u cannot connect to the internet, 1st make sure the power LED is not flashing, if it is flashing then power off all your connection device: DSL modem, Router and computer. After that, power on each device in following order: DSL modem->Router->Computer. Another that u can check is the cable connection. Since your computer can connect to router, then the rest to check is the DSL modem must be connected to the internet port on the router and coaxial port to the telephone line.
Are you connecting the Xbox via wireless?
Try changing the router wireless authentication to WPA-PSK with TKIP encryption.
XBox and PSP have problems with WEP.
1. Do you have a computer connected to the Internet? 2. if so, access the router's setup page and verify its wireless settings. Check SSID and the wireless security enabled into it.
3. Configure your xbox with the wireless settings in your router.
I just figured out how to do this with two. You need to connect just your secondary router to the PC and change it's IP address to ".2" at the end instead of ".1" Then you need to turn off DHCP on that router. The SSID should be the same on both. When you connect them and they have different IP addresses, the main router with DHCP turned on will interact with the other router that has DHCP turned off. They need to have different IP addresses, the same SSID, and only one with DHCP enabled. I am not a networking pro, but figured this out by searching online. Good luck. Pat
