is it only one lock if so it could be corroded inside and that would be why it wont move i had a similar problem on my nissan i tried to lubricate it but it didnt work so i had to replace the lock this is also why you should lubricate your locks with graphite every 3 months
sounds like the actuator in the door that locks and unlocks the door is jammed or too weak to move the lock assembly to fully lock/unlock positions. the linkage may be in a bind that can cause the same problem.
Same thing happened with mine. It turned out that the
power door lock motor went out. Since the handle or the switch can unlock the
driver's door, both of these mechanisms are connected. When the door lock motor
goes out it freezes in whatever position, it was last engaged.
Pop off interior door panels & lube up door lock actuators with a good penetrating oil, move lock buttons back & forth manually & try to use switch to move back from unlock then to lock & back in forth. If they will not free up you will need door lock actuator.
open the door and look on the side of door for little switch up and down ,it a safety switch ,little gray lever sticking out on the side of doors, move it up or down ,read decal on the door jam, hope to help robert b.
Try having someone rock the car frontwards and backwards, while you rock the steering wheel back and forth and try to turn the key - it sounds like you're jammed up hard against the steering column lock.
You have to remove the door panel and manually move the lock release rods inside of the door it could prove to be vary difficult. A body shop is the next step if this proves worthless.
door handle on the out side has never worked. And my wife moved the child saftey lock to the locked position and closed the door, now we can't open it. How can I move the child saftey lock back to the unlocked position when the door won't open?
