Need a replacement start/run capacitor for a C56A31B17 AO Smith 3/4 HP 1725 RPM 110 V boat lift motor.
Century/Regal (which now owns AO Smith) has been giving me the run-around, says it's an OEM part, I guess they'd rather sell another motor instead of allowing me to repair it by putting in a new capacitor.
Does anybody know the mfd and rating for this capacitor? Part number? Mind said ??5-678mfd 110v, 610807-15, 60hz, 235-9825-02. Made by Mallory. This capacitor goes to a a o smith c56a3b17, 3/4 hp, rpm 1725. Anybody got the information on this capacitor.Does anybody know the mfd and rating for this capacitor? Part number? Yes this is an old thread but info is still helpful to those that are searching. Here is one diagram from a 3/4 motor. Be aware that most residential high voltage are 240v. This will have the motor turning a bit faster.
This is usually caused when the motor sits awhile w/o being used. Remove the rear cover with a flat blade screwdriver or 1/4" nut driver. using a flat screwdriver, spin the armature clockwise. this should fix it. If you cannot spin it, the motor should be replaced.
Need more info. What is the voltage at the pump? What voltage is the pump wired for? Sounds like your pump is shutting down from heat thru a safety. If the voltage is wrong the pump will heat up very quickly and a thermal switch will cut out, it will then cool off and try again. Get the readings at the motor connections NOT the breaker.
It will be dependent upon the line voltage and switching mechanism...
Please advise drum switch or relays?
115V or 230V
Remote control present?
If a drum switch, is it a 6 or 12 terminal model or some other configuration?
Make and model of the switch?
There may be more questions depending on the answers to these...do you have a wiring diagram for the control? Are you replacing a motor and have the old and new motor schematics?
You didn't indicate exactly what AO Smith motor model you have, but most likely it's Capacitor start/run if it doesn't have a switch. The important thing is to replace with the same MFD as the old so you have the same starting characteristics.
