I received my palm tx about a week ago. I put a security code on it and it was working fine for awhile. However two days ago I tried to put my security code in and it would not take. I had to do a hard reset on the device thinking this would solve the problem, however when it came to the calibrate screen it would not adjust the calibration so that I could go to the next step to hard reset. Is there something else I can do or is this problem out of my hands?

My TX is driving me batty. It worked so well for months, now the touchscreen doesn't work over half the time. Sometimes it starts right up and works well, the next 6 times it acts totally irratic. Have done numerous resets and tried the hard reset three times, but it would not do it!

My wife's t/x. Bottom of the screen is out of calibration. Tried soft reset, hard reset, renaming backup file and deleting files(though I wasn't sure what I deleted). Also, sometimes device goes into an endless loop.

How to fix. My tochscreen does't work at all . I try do reset.

  • unicycler Aug 04, 2008

I had the same problem as Qwill.

Touchscreen out of calibration, particularly in the lower part of the screen.

Long story short, after reading about this common problem with T/X on several sites, I caved in and bought an application called PowerDigi that has solved the problem.

(In fact, when I do hard resets, the problem comes back until I reactivate PowerDigi). Palm should have a solution but apparently does not.

Love my Palm, but I'm tired of nursing this thing. . .

I found the PoweriGi Doftware and this solved the calibration problem in the lower part of the touchscreen

My touchscreen was acting batty, not responding where I was touching. The solution for me was to:
1. remove my screen protector
2. Take a piece of paper, fold it in half, and scoop under the lip the case where it holds the touchscreen in to fish out debris that were distorting how the digitizer recorded.

Here's a site that has some suggestions to try to fix the issues-

Fix a device that's looping, flashing, or frozen on the Palm Computing Platform logo

your device encounters a system extension that is corrupted or contains
an error after a reset, it will automatically reset and try to load the
corrupted extension again, which causes it to reset again, and so on in
    an infinite loop.

"What's a system extension?" you may ask. System extensions are
software programs loaded the first time your device starts after a
reset. System extensions extend the functionality of your device; for
example the software that allows your device to send data through the
Infrared (IR) port is a system extension.

    Break out of the loop

To escape from the loop, perform a system reset.

If the looping or freezing is related to an application or
extension, a system reset will only temporarily resolve the problem. To
ensure that the problem won't reoccur, see our article about diagnosing software issues.

Its saying calibration problem on the screen

When the Reader device is started for the first time or is reset back to factory settings, the screen must be calibrated. The Reader device will display a calibration screen that requires you to touch the stylus to the center of an "X" at several points on the screen. This is to make sure the touch screen properly recognizes input.
The process requires you to touch the "X" in the following locations on the screen:
  • Top left
  • Bottom right
  • Top right
  • Center
If the screen is accidentally touched someplace other than the center of the "X" during calibration, the Reader device will display a message stating Calibration error detected. Please restart calibration process .
If this happens, please start again in the top left corner and touch the stylus to the center of each "X" as it is displayed, being careful not to touch any other part of the screen. After the sequence is completed the Reader device will display Touch Panel calibration completed . Click OK to continue to the next step in the setup process.

600 soft touch e-reader says it needs calibrating? what does this mean

This error indicates that an issue occurred during the calibration procedure or the Touch screen doesn't function properly. Follow this procedure to resolve this issue.
1. Using the stylus, tap the "X" to restart the calibration process. 2. Tap the center of each "X" that appears on the screen. 3. When "Touch Panel calibration completed" is displayed, click "OK".
After performing the above steps, the issue should be resolved.
If the issue still persists, perform a soft reset. To soft reset the Reader, press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object.
If unfortunately the issue still didn't resolve, service of the Reader may require. Follow the below link to initiate the repair:

Touch screen won't respond / hard to program

Try to run the Touch Screen Test(by going into Diagnostics) this will check that the touch screen is calibrated and accurate. If it still doesnt work then go to Initialize GPS this will Reset the unit and will reacquire the satellite signal.

Note: Previously saved satellite data will be reset and reacquiring the satellite signal may take 15 minutes or more.

Please revert for any clarifications.

A Fixya Rating would be appreciated if you found this solution helpful.

have a china made handheld double sim touch-screen phone. The device is Winkoy T6688. The touch screen got damaged and after reseting the device, the following notice appears after turning it on:

"Calibration wizard. You have to calibrate the touch-screen. Click anywhwere on the screen with your stylus to start calibration".

Of course you can´t but there´s no other option because it won´t accept any other input until it´s calibrated apparently. Does anyone know how to bypass this calibration wizard on start up?
