Re: ultrascan hitachi 43" hd tv
What you're describing is convergence and the amps need to be replaced... IK04 and Ik05 are two STK392-110 and Hitachi suggests replacing them with the STK392-150's for greater reliability..
If you're not too capable in electronics this is one to leave for the professionals. But at least you can call around and ask what each shop charges for replacing the convergence amps in this unit...
Hope this helps.

simple: remove back cover and locate the three large black lens you will see top and dead center, clean them with either a lens cloth or a paper towel with glass cleaner----they are the light source for your picture and should be cleaned once a year---as they get dusty the picture gets darker and duller looking.\\
Very common in DLP tv u lucky is last it this long.Usally 2-3 years the Convergence ICS are dying will be dead and all it supporting resistors is dead .The convergence is dead, must know how to solders, repalaced Convergence ICs all it resistors.Tries Tv Repair World.com,Tvrepairkits.com for the convergence kit.The shop will cost u 300 for parts and labors.
My picture would go out after several minutes but I still had sound. I
took the rear cover off and blew all the dust off with compresed air.I
did this for a few times over several days nothing happened.I also took
off the rear circuit board that attaches to the tube with a round pin
socket and blew that with compressed air and put it back on. The TV has
now worked for two days without the picture going out. It
worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My TV is 9 years old.
First, Have your tv 's circuitry be resoldered. this might be a case of loose contacts particularly along the crt circuitry. the longer you operate the unit at this condition, the faster you are counting the possibility of shortening the lifespan of your tube. 9 years is quite a young age for a unit which has an average of 18years.
