Hi put the belt on the platter first, remove the rubber cover and then place the platter back on. There should be a hole through the platter where you can grab it, then stretch it to go over the motor spindle. Hope that helps

I have Bosch Nexxt Premium WFMC6400UC Front Load Washer. It noted a suds or pump blocked error. I was able to access the pump cleanout at the bottom of the washer and remove a small wire that was lodged....

Hello and welcome to fixya.

I`d suggest removing the back panel and inspecting if the belt has perhaps come off.

**Unplug the unit from the wall first**

If so, put the belt around the motor pulley and start it around the drum/drive pulley. As you hold it in place spin the large pulley and it should go back on, careful not to pinch your fingers...ouch :(

Let me know what you find out or if you require further assistance.

If this indeed solves the problem please take a second to rate my solution accordingly.

Thank you for choosing`"fixya" and good luck.

Got Dirt Devil Featherlite, keeps burning the belt out immediately and there is only one way to put the belt on...have put on 4 new belts.....what up?

Hi There,

When a belt breaks immediately after installing it, this can ONLY mean one of two things. The first is that the belt was put back on incorrectly, and it may be pinched underneath of the beater bar. This would cause it to break immediately, but I seriously doubt after 4 belts that you put the belt on wrong all 4 times.

The second, and more probable cause is that your roller brush has gone bad. This could be why the belt broke in the first place. In order to test to make sure the brush is bad, unscrew the bottom plate, and remove the brush like you were changing the belt.

Hold the brush at the very end on both sides, using only your finger tips. While holding just the bearing caps, try spinning the bar with your thumbs. Does the brush spin freely in your hands? It should spin completely around 4-5 times on each spin. If the brush will not spin, or if you feel any resistance to it spinning, this is the reason why your belt continues to break.

If the brush can not spin, the motor shaft will continue to try and spin the belt, but since the brush doesn't spin, and the belt doesn't move, the motor shaft will just burn right through the back end of the belt.

If your machine is actually the model that's listed on this Fixya repair page, the Dirt Devil Featherlite model M085845, then your machine uses the following roller brush:
Dirt Devil Plastic Brush Roll for Model 085845 Part # 2-881020-000

The next time that change the belt, install the brush back into the machine, but this time pull up on the belt towards the brush to make sure that the belt spins freely, and spins the brush as well. If the belt doesn't spin the brush, there's some issue, and the belt will break as soon as you turn the machine on.

I hope this helped you. If you find out that you don't need a new brush, feel free to use the comment section here on the repair page and let me know, I'd be happy to walk you through some more advanced diagnosing. If you found this helpful, please be so kind and rate my repair and / or leave feedback for me.

Thanks so much,

Chris Jones

Loud grinding noise when spinning. So I layed the machine down on its front to work on it. I loosened the belt, and then removed the lint catcher pump. I cleaned the pump by flushing and reverse flushing...

Just so you know, in the first place, (NEVER PLACE A WASHING MACHINE IN ANY POSITION BUT UPRIGHT. That's just asking for a leaking gearcase (transmission)! Your best bet is to call a technician. It sounds more like stress on the drivetrain from the water weight! The only way to tell would be to pull the case off to observe the tub as the water fills to see if the tub is indeed pusing downward!

The washer is making loud squealing noises. I took the front panel off to take a close look and notice the motor is able to be moved back and forth. Is this normal? I tried tightening the mounts and it...

Set the drive belt over the drum, loosen the motor slightly, because I think you are cross treading the belt. check the belt before fitting to see if there is any damage to the belt. With your hand put the belt on to the drum, back onto the motor, turn very slowly until the belt finds it's own parallel (the grooves line up), then tighten the motor exactly where it is in place. If there is NO damage to the belt, set the machine onto a fast spin, empty. That should tell you it's a belt problem. But you may have to spend 10 bucks on a new belt. Cheaper than a new machine. Hope all goes go well for you, let me know! Dave

Brush roller on windtunnel won't spin

It sounds like you need to replace the actuator arm or the cable to it. Look for Hoover part 43143046 for a start. I've got a similar problem.

How to replace vaccum belt on a hoover tempo

Turn the machine upside down. Take the screws out of the bottom plate and remove it. take out the brush roller and old belt. Wrap the new belt around the metal shaft of the motor first and put the roller inside the belt loop and use the roller as leverage to stretch the belt up to the brush housing and slide the roller in place. Give the roller a spin by hand the make sure everything moves freely before you use it. It should spin with out much effort, if it doesn't you probably have the belt pinched, and you need to free it up before putting the bottom plate back one. It will take a little elbow grease, but it will go on.

Hoovers usually list what kind of belt they take on the serial tag.

Good Luck
