What might be happening is that you have connected the TV to a home theater AV unit. I have a similar set up and as long as I am running the signal from my computer to the AV system, audio control is via the windows application and the AV system. The TV has no audio control. This can be especially true if you are connecting the TV directly to a computer.
SOURCE: lg lcd tv keeps changing chanels
Come on, lets try to solve this. Take the batteries out of the remote so it can't interfere and try changing the channels and volume with the buttons on the tv. If this works then someone has spillled something onto the remote and gummed it all out. You simply need to take the remote apart and clean it out. If the buttons on the tv do th same as the remote did then yes, take it back.

Did you have any luck? My LG is stuck in demo mode too. Menu button doesn't work, and keylock was on as default so I can't use the buttons on the TV itself.

SOURCE: 42 in LG LCD TV turns off by itself
Found that TV started switching off by itself. Would try to come on..green light blinked for 2-3 seconds, tv came on (with picture and sound) for 1 or 2 seconds and then it would turn itself off. Found that the issue is with one channel only. If you are facing this issue....try quickly changing the channel the moment it comes on. You can do it either with remote or with the TV buttons directly. also in the same logic, if this is still happening, try changing the source to another (rgb-pc, av1, av2 etc). Basically change it from whatever input it is on currently, if changing the channels does not work. My symptom was that the tv made a loud 'TIK' 'TAK' sound which is louder than normal.
