Access behind the bumper the wires lead you right to the light socket. The problem is theses bulb sockets corrode. Replacement sockets have to be purchased and wired in. They can cost $6.99 all the way to $39.99. I purchase two for under $20 at a local auto store. I used a soldering iron and heat shrink tubing with a heat gun to repair mine - they already outlasted the original sockets lifetime. They do sell some kits that pierce the wire avoiding soldering and heat shrink tubing BUT if you live anywhere up North where it snows or down South near the salt air from the beach - the wires will corrode where pierced. My truck just turned 15 years old this year. Springfield, MA

Tail lights work but why don't license plate lights?

The license plate lights have their own separate bulbs. If you are able to replace the bulbs, that may solve your problem. If not, you may have a loose or rusted connection to the plate bulbs only. If you are able to gain access, you may want to check the condition of the harness that supplies the power to the license plate portion. Good luck and have a great day.

How do I get to the license plate bulb for a 2004 nissan sentra

There are 2 bulbs above the license plate, each under a plastic cover. The covers are held in with 2 screws each. Just unscrew and remove the plastic covers and you should be able to access the bulbs.

Need to replace bulbs that lights license plate. License plate and light is part of trunk

raise trunk lid look on the inside behind your license plate light there should be access to the bulb there. You will see the wires going in to the bulb there will either be a flt plate that can be removed to access bulb or where the wires enter there will be a round socket that you can twist counter clockwise and remove the bulb socket for bulb replacement. hope this helps.

Burned out license plate bulb

open trunk,

remove felt liner from rear of trunk, (liner directly behind rear lights in side trunk) should be 4 plastic Phillips head screws. Loosing screws, then slowly peel liner away. You will see 3 nuts on each side, removing these nuts will loosing the rear light lenses, so you can pull the lense away from the body from the out side to gain access to the license plate bulbs. Re-install in reverse order. While in there I would recommend replacing your brake light and reverse light bulb. Hey your already in there might as well do a little preventive maintance.
