How do I fix a buzzing sound in my fridge?

It is silent in the morning, when I get up , but as soon as I first open the door for the milk, the motor/compressor/ kicks in and the buzzing starts. It runs like this all day then presumably stops at night because it's silent each morning. Then it starts again as soon as the door is opened. I am miles away from a repair man, so wondering if it might be an easy fix! not! I suppose The buzzing noise seems to be louder in the fridge and not the freezer part. Any help would be fantastic. thank you

Fridge keeps beeping or buzzing: The following is for Frigidaire models but others can be addressed similarly.

Several Frigidaire refrigerator models have an electronic control panel on the freezer door the owner can use to adjust the internal temperature, dispense ice and water and receive notification about issues such as the need to replace a water filter. The refrigerators also emit a beep for various actions and as an occasional alarm. Determining what causes the beeps necessitates some troubleshooting.
Temperature Controls ·A Frigidaire refrigerator's display panel blinks when the control panel is touched to set temperature controls. After pressing "Freezer Temp" or "Refrigerator Temp" on the keypad, press the arrow buttons within five seconds to increase or decrease the desired temperature. If you do not press the arrow buttons within five seconds after pressing "Freezer Temp" or "Refrigerator Temp" on the keypad, the refrigerator beeps to indicate the current setting will stay in place.

Door Open ·When you leave the refrigerator or freezer door open, the refrigerator beeps. Also, the "Door Ajar" indicator illuminates on the appliance's display panel. Shutting the door and pressing "Alarm Reset" stops the beeping and turns off the "Door Ajar" indicator light.
·The Frigidaire refrigerator has a control lock feature that prevents use of its control panel or dispensers when the unit is locked. When the control lock is active, a beep sounds when a keypad or dispenser is pressed. Release the control lock by pressing the "Control Lock" icon for three seconds. A beep will sound, and the icon's light will go out.
Power Reset ·A power reset is occasionally necessary if the Frigidaire refrigerator's control panel does not work normally or a reset function on the keypad does not work. A power reset involves disconnecting power to the refrigerator by unplugging its power cord from the electrical outlet, waiting 30 seconds and plugging the power cord back into the electrical outlet. When the control panel resets, a beep sounds. If the refrigerator beeps even after a power reset and the beeps' source is not known, contact Frigidaire.

It is silent over night bur as soon as the door is opened in the morning the motor kicks in and it starts buzzing. this goes on all day.

NOT SURE THIS IS UR PROBLEM BUT THOUGHT ID SEND IT
Fridge FAN CONTINUALLY STAYS ON OR SHUTS OFF WHEN DOOR IS OPENED:

NORMALLY WHEN THIS HAPPENS U EITHER HAVE A DOOR CONTINUALLY OPEN ISSUE OR A BAD DOOR SEAL LETTING AIR IN AND CAUSING FAN TO OVERWORK ITSELF. ANOTHER CAUSE CAN BE DIRTY COILS AND CONDENSER AND LASTLY NOT TO COMMON IS A SHORT IN THE FAN SYSTEM ITSELF. A MORE PROBABLE CAUSE COULD BE BAD THERMISTORS OR EVEN COLD CONTROL THERMOSTAT ( WHEN THE THERMISTORS OR THERMOSTAT DO NOT GET/GIVE A PROPER READING, THEY CAN CAUSE THE FAN TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE AS THEY FAIL TO RECOGNIZE OR REGULATE THE PROPER TEMPERATURE

Yesterday morning I noticed that the unit was buzzing. The refrigerator door had been left open and the temperature inside was 70 degrees. The freezer temperature was 20 degrees. This morning, 24 hours...

Hi
You have condesation built up in your freezer whereby the evaporator fan or the vents are most likely blocked off.

Turn fridge off. Empty freezer and either put a pot of boiling water inside freezer or with the aid of a hair dryer try to defrost the freezer. If you are able to remove the back panel on the freezer that would be ideal as you can directly target the frost.
Good luck

I bought the hotpoint ice diamond fridge freezer the number on the outside of fridge is RFA 52 july 2010 i have had the thermostat on number 2 but the milk was iced up this morning so i have it on number...

Hello Jeanneary9,

Proper AIR CIRCULATION is critical to the
proper operation of the unit as a whole...
(I prefer my milk ICY cold... but fluid).

First thing to do is inventory your air vents
inside the FREEZER area... to ASSURE that
NONE are blocked (from open)...

Then inspect the air vent INTO the refrigerator
area that NONE of those are blocked (closed)

Most modern refrigerators give preference
to the milk storage shelf...

ELSE...
(first try a full 3 day DEFROST... (unloaded
with doors wide open... Then set to original settings
(three more days)))...

Only then you are looking at (sorting) a
DEFECTIVE thermostat...!!

I use (rather inexpensive) TAYLOR ($6 - USA)
refrigerator thermometers to regulate temperatures...
and STAY AWAY from "adjusting" as much as
Possible... as it can take UP TO 3 days (72 hours)
for the refrigerator to stabilize...

Hope this helps

Milk container won't fit onto front of machine

We had the same problem & worked out that it's because the actual milk container is too cold & has contracted from being in a cold part of the fridge. We moved the milk container to the door of the fridge ( it's a little warmer than the rest of the fridge) & it slotted in perfectly the next morning!

Hello mathsmike,
Welcome to fixya,

You said,We have a relatively new Bosch fridge-freezer. It has started chuntering away like a motor-bike in the corner of the room. It falls silent if either door is opened. Sometimes it falls quiet and runs sweetly for hours before starting this racket again. Any ideas?

What is the Complete model number and the date you bought the fridge!

It sounds like it may be a faulty fan or fan clutch from here, if it's not something else very simple!

Send me the info requested and do a repair search for you !
Waiting for your response!

Here are some common noise problems till I look your unit up
!

1.Check that the fridge is level, using a spirit level!
2. Appliance is touching some other unit or appliances, or counter or wall.
3. Drawers, baskets,or storage ares are loose, or sticking!
4.Receptacles or bottles are touching. Move them away from each other,
ESPECIALLY ON THE DOOR,because it's quiet when the doors are open!

Maytag MSD2651HES fridge not cooling freezer works find

Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.
  • possible causes:
  1. bad defrost timer
  2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
  3. bad thermo switch in freezer
If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items.

No cold fridge

Open the freezer and listen for the evaporator fan. You may have to hold the door switch closed for it to come on. If you dont hear the fan running then you probably need a fan motor or or defrost bimetal depending on the make and model. If the fan is working, look at the back wall of the freezer. If you see a thick coat of frost, you probably have a problem with the defrost system. Also, check to make sure refrigerator light is shutting off when you close the door. A 40 watt bulb will curdle a gallon of milk quickly. Of course, you also want to rule out any possibility that the fridge door was left slightly open over night before you decide to toss it. Please reply back with what you find out. If you need further help, please post the brand and model number so I can give more detailed advise.
