Half of the monitor screen went dim

After installing a windows update prompt, the monitor screen of the laptop divides itself in equal half with the right side normal while the left side is dim. I can still read info on it but the colour is distorted (not true colour)

Why is there a monitor (external) on a Laptop.
I guess the laptop LCD died too?
no monitor told, makers name and brand
or are you calling the lock LCD screen a monitor, well it is not.
most old monitors died now, 2010 and older, non told
they all die or 1/2 screen dead, from 1/2 the CCFL back lamps
are Dead or dim or yellow tinged, or blink or fully intermittant
the cur for the monitor, if is one, is test it on a 2nd PC. bingo good/bad known.
if not a monitor here same answer. CCFL die in PCs old and monitors.
CCFL are cold cathode fluorescent lamps.

no PC told
no photos of bad screens. sad face.

SOURCE: Screen is faulty. It divides in equal half and displays well on one side and dims on the other. I can read info on both sides but dim side displays faded colour. External monitor works fine.

Usually not. The circuitry that drives the panel is integrated with the screen.

It's some work but those screens are serviceable and you can often find a good replacement on eBay at a fraction of the cost of a new HP part. A local small computer shop could probably swap it out for you in less than an hour.

Good luck.

How cani i solve "x divided by 9 and x divided by 9 equals 4

x divided by 9 and 9 divided by 9 equals 4, so x divided by 9 equals half of 4 or 2. 2 times 9 equals 18, so x equals 18.

To check, 18 divided by 9 equals 2. 2 and 2 equals 4.

Subtle Two Toned Split Screen Color Difference.I think I hit some button by accident. Monitor is great but now I have a split screen where the left hand side of the screen has a lighter tint than the right...

Hi. I have got the same problem, and it was very easy to solve. Monitor was LG. The problem was not in the system, it was in the monitor. I just clicked the buttons on the monitor, it was on the wrong setting that divides monitor in two colors, so if it happens to you, try checking your monitor settings, mine was set to "demonstration", half was lighter than the other one, just set it to usual or user. Keep in mind the settings are on the monitor itself, not in the windows (buttons on the monitor itself) Good luck.

I recently updated this netbook using the Windows 7 upgrade and went through the entire tech support call with Microsoft regarding accurate procedures to upgrade from xp to Windows 7. The netbook worked...

To let you know one FACT....
MS tech support is JUNK....
If you still want to use them it's you call.....

Solution
Get an external monitor and fix that to the monitor port (watch this video)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7MZ23T-NRg&feature=fvw

on the back or on side of the notebook serial port
if display on monitor is ok then there is some issue with you laptop display
if hardware is the issue
you need to aproach a tech shop to fix the issue

My laptop display only shows half a screen. The rest shows a white background with thin black lines. I can attach an external monitor and see everything without an issue.

i have solve the problem for my hp nx7300. mine used to show everything that should be shown on the screen but had the screen placed in a Conner so small. i solved this by uninstalling the monitor and unknown device drivers. i have then installed the unknown device as a blue-tooth adapter to avoid this problem recurring. hope this sorts out some people's problem. the other half screen with half completely not shown has to do with the cable connecting the monitor and the CPU. remember solving this for my friend by cleaning the connection port.
