I have a PT-85.I am frustrated because it only prints size 1 & 2 letters. When I print any size larger it prints the first letter partially. Do I need a different tape or is my machine broken?

I'm thinking that if the print is larger than the tape then you will need a larger tape it it is available
talk the problem out with your local office supply shop

You should configure TRAY 1 as Legal only.
and Tray 2 as plain letter.

Specially when you specify from what tray/paper type to print.

This can be easily configured from the Printer Properties within the Printers and Faxes section of the Control Panel.

Good luck!

SOURCE: Paper

If you see this message on the front panel of the HP PSC 2210 when you are receiving a fax, check that the paper size is set to match the paper size in the paper tray. (You cannot receive a fax on 4 x 6 paper or on an envelope.) Checking the paper size setting

  1. Press Setup .
  2. Press the right arrow until you see 3: Basic Fax Setup .
  3. Press Enter .
  4. Press the right arrow until you see 4: Paper Size .
  5. Press Enter .
  6. Press the right arrow until you see the paper size that matches the size of the paper in the paper tray.
  7. Press Enter .

SOURCE: Printed Tape Cuts Off Letters

I was having the ame issue. Found the solution on the user manual (posted online). Press Function, scroll to "Margin", press "Function", use arrows to select "#" or "##", then press Function again. Now it should print with a margin, thus not cutting off your letters. Mine was set to "-", which is basically no margin.

PT 1280 suddently printing miniscule letters. Can't reset, have turned off using Shift/clear buttons, but doesn't change after settings redone.

What size tape are you using? If you have switched from half-inch to quarter-inch tape, then chances are that the printer is working correctly as the general size of the print is determined by the size of the tape. Beyond that, you can use the Text button at the top-center of the keyboard to enter the options for customizing the print such as the font used, the size (small, medium, or large), the width of the letters, and the style (such as bold, outlined, or shaded).

Prints on partial page of an 81/2 x 11 photo paper. Prints OK letters fm word.

Instead of using the Letter or factory 8 1/2 x 11 page set up, create a custom page size for 8 1/2x11 and use that in your app for the page set up. Double check your page orientation and the size of the photo you are printing. It sounds like it may be trying to tile the photo because it's too large for the page size.

Look at the bottom right of the screen and you will see a +100%, click on the down arrow next to it and it will drop a window down so the screen print and objects will be of higher or lower magnification from 50% lower to 400 precent larger size...

I assume that you need the manual for your printer.
Here you can download:

On page 26-28 it explains what you need to do to change the size of letters.

How can i get this printer to print larger letters

Usually, the size of the letters depend on how large you have them in your document. Open your document, highlight the letters you wish to change (or the entire document if you want to change everything) and from the menu bar at the top of the screen, (Usually under "Format") you will find a "Font" selection. Increase the size of the font by selecting a larger number. This will change it on your screen as well as when the printer prints it. You may have to save the changes before printing.

Lexmark t642 load mp feeder with letter

The reason that your printer is asking you to load paper into the MPF is that it doesn't think it has that size paper in tray 1 or 2. Make sure that the green paper guide in the paper tray that you want to print from is latched in the correct position. This guide tells the printer what size paper is in the tray. If you have it even slightly out of position you'll get this message.
