Kenmore French door refrigerator 70413 the reviews have a few people complaining the temperature is NOT consistently under 40 degrees, another few complain of a clicking noise coming from the compressor or a relay. They say Sears comes out and replaces the refrigerator but the new ones have the same problems. ___BUT quite many say they love their refrigerator.___ I am afraid I will get this home and have one of the problems that these people have and a replacement unit will continue to be problematic. ___I am buying the Master Protection Agreement but if it is a problematic model the protection agreement just wastes my time!
I may be too late here but, I am on my second Kenmore model 70413. This is a replacement from the original that I purchased on 2/12/2015. The original never cooled to the proper temperature. After a few weeks, I began hearing a clicking sound underneath the freezer. Three technicians came out before they replaced the unit. Customer Service was not great when it came time to replace it (initially it was supposed to be a part that was replaced...it was on back order which they failed to tell me...then I found out it was on back order until July and this happened in April...unacceptable). Now the replacement is doing the exact same thing except it works a bit better than the original. Save yourself the trouble and go with another brand.
What you have to understand about Kenmore(Sears) appliances is that they DO NOT MANUFACTURE any of their appliances. They purchase products from any company out there and put the Kenmore name on it. Many years ago 90% of their appliances where actually Whirlpool but that has changes these days and they purchase the the lowest priced product they can find. Unless you find out who actually makes the appliance you want to buy its hard to say if it is a good purchase. In my opinion, you are better off buying from a well known appliance dealer and sticking with a well known brand like GE---Whirlpool----LG etc. Names you know have been around for some time and will back their product.
Best advice -- there are other makes on the market so shop around and read reviews
don't buy it just because you like the name especially when you are aware of problems in the make and model
Testimonial: "I am not buying because of the name I am buying because it is the largest bottom freezer top refrigerator that is WELL under $2,500.00. I wanted to know if the few people who hate it are just wackos because ther are 5x more people who give it 5* and wanted to know if the unit is good as the 5* people say or if the 1* people reflect real life??? ___IS IT A GOOD RELIABLE UNIT OR NOT???"
to start with door freezers are not a good purchase as every time you open the door ,the cold falls onto the floor and that makes the unit work harder to keep the low setting. When there is a power outage , door freezers loose their cold after a few hours because of the door seals and inefficient door insulation Chest freezers on the other hand have no doors and as cold air is heavy and site in the bottom of the freezer the lid seal is not as important ( supermarket freezers are some times open topped chest freezers) Your statement that it is the largest bottom door freezer for a cheapest price should indicate to you that you only get what you pay for and how long is the warranty for compared to the dearer models. Kenmore fridges are not available in this country because the brand cannot cut it for reliability. The choice is yours and no one else can make it for you.
What I gather when I see the percentages of reviews (like this one seems to be maybe 35% 5* but 25% 1*) is that this model has a terrible quality-control issue. It could be a variety of things, from multiple sources manufacturing/assembling it, to a part with a high failure rate to who-knows-what.
common sense will tell you thgat you get the quality that you pay for--buy cheap , get cheap.
reviews can be entered by retailers or manufacturers to promote a product
the best place to go to get an opinion is the service agent who repairs the product or other appliance repairs shops
