SMART stands for Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology.
If you want lots of details on what it is, and does, take a look at this link:

It is highly unlikely that you will be able to fix this since it's a hardware problem on the hard drive. The drive may last for years or it may die tomorrow. At a minimum I would back up everything you care about on a regular basis.
If you found this information helpful I would appreciate it if you would rate this solution. I hate to beg, but over half of the solutions I've posted have no feedback. I'm not paid for this I'm just trying to help.
SOURCE: asking for password sata port pass
This is a "security" feature, to protect the files on the disk-drive from unauthorized access.
The computer supports "full-disk" encryption of each disk-drive inside your computer.
So, what password did you set when you first initialized this disk-drive?
If you don't know it, there's nothing you can do -- all the files on the disk-drive are _NOT_ accessible to you.

If you have overclocked the computer then put everything back to standard, that can do it. Try reinstalling windows, and when asked repair the windows already installed. That will reverse any windows data corruption. Remove and reconnect the hard drive data cable, a loose connection can cause a SMART alarm. Download seatools and run the long test, it is a better way of checking if the alarm is correct. Switch the computer off for an hour, sometimes the SMART test just goofs off for no reason. Only then do you **** your underwear and buy a new hard drive.
