What exactly does it do when you turn the Key? Are there any dashboard lights staying on that normally go out when you turn the key to position 2? Does it do absolutely 'Nothing' with the dash lights staying on? Does it do nothing but the dash lights go off? Dash lights go off and you get a 'Clunk' noise? Absolutely nothing suggests security system or the actual ignition key/barrel. This often has a light on the dash shaped like a key. Nothing but the lights go off could be the starter solenoid. Lights of and a 'clunk' could possibly be the starter itself. The solenoid will be bolted directly to the starter motor. It's the smaller barrel shaped section on the side of the actual starter motor.
That key reset it's code like every 60 secs... do you have other keys around it that are also for that car... if so they might both be changing codes at the same time.
No Power? Do you mean that the engine would not crank when you turned the key? Did you have dash lights? Dome lights? If you had some kind of lighting, you had electrical power. and if that is so then it sounds like your transmission range selector switch may be faulty or needs adjustment. Or VERY POSSIBLY, you might not have put it ALL the way in Park when you turned the car off the last time. If you try it now does it start? If not try putting it into park a little harder. Does that work? If not put in Neutral and try it. If that works the Gear selector switch Is bad or in need of adjustment.
Hello fuel pump has absolutely nothing to do with the car turning over try to start the car in neutral. Also is your battery connections good and clean?
1989 f250 4x4 lighting problems. i replaced the floor mounted dimmer switch ,the lights worked fine for an hour untill i turned them off.Now the lights will not turn back on but i have park lights.
Do you have sufficient power to the vehicle? Do the lights work and radio? If not your battery is low, if yes than your starter solenoid may have failed. Since there is absolutely nothing, I take it you hear no cranking or igniting. correct?
Hi,
is your car a GDI engine? If it is GDI you can't really hear the pump working when you put ign on.
Give me some details and I might be able to guide you there.
Chassis, engine numbers, GDI ??
