SOURCE: dyer really hot, not drying clothes

Is the dryer tumbling? If not, you may have a broken belt or some other drive assembly issue.

Also, turn the dryer on and go outside to the vent discharge - you should feel air coming out at a pretty good clip. If not, the vent line is obstructed and will need to be cleaned out.

SOURCE: Whirpool dryer takes 3 hours to dry jeans or towels.

Most likely your heating element has partially failed. Some dryers have two separate resistance heaters in them. If one fails what you are describing can happen. If you have the tools and are willing to take it in it's not that bad a job. You have to take the cover off the dryer to see it, then it is two bolts. Any appliance repairman can handle this easily.

SOURCE: my dryer is producing heat

make sure that all the seals are ok, door, front and back drum seal, blower housing seal(inside dryer). also consider that depending on washer type if you overload or have a worn drive belt in washer it will take twice the time to dry. also make sure that the dryer drum tumble. open door, press door switch and start dryer to see if drum turn. lastly disconnect vent pipe behind dryer and dry a load. if it dry ok then you have a partial blockage. you can also have a weak heating element.

The dryer heats up,it also goes through the entire cycle but the clothes are never thourly dryed. What could be the cause?

Typically it is because lent has built up in the vent tube. Here is a good site that shows you how you can do it yourself: http://www.wikihow.com/Clean-a-Clothes-Dryer-Vent

Dryer will not get hot

how old is it? One thing i run into a lot, is that the exhaust vent may be clogged.
if that is the case, clothes tend not to dry due to lack of air circulation. And the heating element in the dryer will not kick on. That vent is typically located in the back lower panel of the dryer. And is hooked up to a vent hose. check the hose for debris (lent) remove anything you might find. also disconnect where the hose meets the dryer, and check dryer portion as well. If nothing is clogged, then you may have a bad heating element.

Dryer not drying

Not a major appliance expert--but if the situation is as described with hot air out vent but not in the drum where the clothing is it seems to me you have a blockage between the drum and lint filter to where it reaches the vent tube---they do make long flexible brushes for this-----a suggestion: if you have a compressor try forcing air down from the lint filter with the vent tube removed to see if the blockage is there and will clear or not.

A blockage can be a fire hazard so if you do not find it have a tech out.

oooow,,,temper temper,,,,take a deep breath,,,
i think the temp censor has stoped working thats why its not getting very hot its that or the heating coil/s are broken,,also check the air vents at the back are not blocked up if so its not getting any air to it,,,
then go out and find a big stick,,,and batter it with the stick,,,
this realy wont help fix it,,but it will make you feel soooo much better?

My electric dryer is becoming extremely hot during the drying cycle. I replaced a blown thermal fuse several weeks ago and the dryer was extremely hot at that time. The dryer runs but becomes so hot you...

Clothes will get very hot in the dry cycle, especially when the dryer is set to the warmest or hottest setting.
There are controls built into the unit to prevent it from overheating to the point of causing a fire. The thermal fuse you replaced is one of them (and I assume you replaced a perfectly good fuse with a new one as you said it was very hot.).
You might want to check the following if you feel the unit is getting too hot -

1) Make sure the lint screen is clean.
2) Make sure the hose between the back of the dryer and the exhaust duct at the wall wall is not kinked or full of lint.
3) Make sure the exhaust duct leading to outside of the house is clear and not full of lint.

Let me know what you find.

My Neptune dryer does not cool down. At the end

You have a venting issue. Pull the dryer away from the wall and unhook it, then clean out the vent. What works well is if you take the screen off of the out side and us a leaf blower to clear out the lint build up.

check and make sure it has a clear clean vent.no kinks in vent hose.if yours vents thru roof then you may want a chimney sweep to come and sweep your vent out.if it goes thru a wall check and make sure know blockage.
