Hi I have DRC-SR200 camcoder, bought one year ago. Issue is lens cover is not opening. On the LCD display there is a message "lens cover not fully open. Turn off and on". I tried that but no use. Went through the power restting, storing to factory defaults, but this also did not work. I bought can of compressed air and used it, but this also did not help. Not able to understand the problem. Can some body help on this issue. Thanks in advance Pal

Hi, perform the following steps to get this issue resolvbed... 1. Check whether the lens cover is opened 2. check whether the battery is fully charged. If the battery is not fullly charged, connect the Camcorder to the wall outlet using the sipplied AC adaptor. 3. Then, try resetting the Camcorder by pressing the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object while the Camcorder is turned ON. 4. If the issue still persists, turn OFF the Camcorder; then remove the battery pack and discinnect the Ac adaptor from the Camcorder; slide the POWER switch to the ON position for 1 minute. Then, connect the AC Adaptor tro the wall outlet and cjeck whether it helps.
If the issue still persists, service of the unit may require. contact the manufacturer of the Camcorder to get ut serviced.

When I turn my camera on, it tries to adjust the lens and then it retracts. the screen says lens error.

This is a common problem for these pocket cameras with zoom lenses. It is usually a result of the camera being switched on while in a pocket or case or other place that restricts the lens from being able to be extended fully.

The camera does a sort of "self check" when turned on to make sure the pictures you take will be right. If it can't perform the test successfully, it shuts off and displays an error message.

Something is preventing the lens from running the self test completely. This could be a damaged mechanism (as a result of trying to open all the way earlier), or a simple "grain of sand" that has become caught between the lens barrel and camera body.

The camera will need to have the offending object removed / mechanism repaired to let the lens complete the self test before it can be used again. You might have some luck fully charging the batteries or or leave connected to a power source - and attempt to power up again. This is a "brute force" method - the fully charged batteries / power source my provide enough "oomph" for the lens to dislodge the object. Make sure the camera is pointed lens down - so it can fall out - rather than INTO the camera even further. You could try pulling the lens while powering up - but this could make things worse. If the camera is expendable, you could try that. If the camera is more than a couple / few years old, you might just want to simply buy a newer, more feature packed one instead of going the repair route - as this *can* be an fairly expensive repair give the cost of most mainstream cameras purchased a few years ago and the cost of them today.

If it is a dirt issue, it will likely NOT be covered under warranty. Of course, contacting the manufacturer and discussing the problem certainly can't hurt.

I hope this helps... good luck!

The vision is blury and it keeps flashing E:61:10

E:61:10 is a lens error code. Could be a connection issue between the lens and the main board or a bad lens. You will need to have this looked at by an experienced technician. www.austintelstarservices.com

Cannon G7 need help

Hi
Had the same problem a few months ago. There was a high pitchedwhisltle and I think the screen said "lens fault.turn off camera" or something similar.Bought a G9 to replace as the 7 was out of guarantee but sent the 9 back to the e-bay reseller as it was obviously secondhand with grit around the lens ring and the viewfinder.Ebay never again!.So 3 months ago ago I tried the G7 again with a fresh charged battery before I consigned the camera to the loft.I noticed that each time i switched on the whistle and message was there but the lens extended slightly further each timeso I kept rebooting until the lens was fully extended.Turned the camera off and on again and everything was back to normal. It seems that this may be Canons protocol when a camera goes back. Its been absolutely fine until today. It wont boot up at all.I have tried 2 fresh charged batteries and its dead.Any ideas anyone?

My Nikon Coolpix S5 has a broken lens; it son't fully close/ open. The message displayed on the screen says "Lens cover error". Is it something that can be repaired? How much would it cost to fix...

Hi , The lens cover error is because the stepper motor in the camera is unable to open the lens cover. I have a solution posted in doc "nikon s5 s6 lens cover error repair.doc"  uploaded on site http://www.esnips.com/web/papputatiyasStuff    It will be helpfull for you. You have written that your lense is broken. In that case you can follow the procedure given in my doc to open the camera. You can replace the camera lens if broken.

Lens cover doesn't open

Check out the Tech support Team at NIKON Don't fiddle with it your self - this is a very delicate mechanism At fours years old- it is likely that a new camera is the only remedy.
