If you are refering to a cable ,it can be repaired by replacing the entire cable. The ends are cast aluminum.

My toro 51970a trimmer has been leaking gas and flooding for the past few weeks, but I could start it. Today, it is gushing gas from the back when I pull the starter string. How do i fix this?

The carburetor needs to be removed and inspected. The malfunctions possibly indicate the need for a repair kit. I've been unable to locate your exact model, but if it has the 2-Stroke engine (gas/oil mix), then you will at the very least..need a gasket and diaghragm kit installed per inspection. There is the possibility that the carburetor needs a complete rebuild and would require the complete rebuild kit. Remove the gas lines (after draining gas). Remove the carb and inspect the screws and tightness of the screws in the 2 end covers. Are the screws tight? If not tighten them up and reinstall, trying to restart the machine. Post back if needed.

Many TORO mowers have a drive pinion that can be used on either side, however, internally, they ratchet one direction, drive the other direction. You may want to rotate (reverse) the installation of one gear and try it.

Broken selfpropell cable. Need to replace

To replace the cable you would have to go to a Toro dealer and purchase tjhe cable I don't know of another way to get the right cable. themn Remove old one and install the new one. There are some universal cables out ther but they can be tricky to adapt to some mowers.

Toro GTS5 20482 Pull String Loose

The whole assembly looks like it should be part number 94-1661. Doing an online search for this part should bring back relevant pricing information: http://www.google.com/search?q=94-1661+starter+assembly. Otherwise visit https://homeownersolutions.toro.com/portal/server.pt?open=512&objID=214&PageID=0&cached=true&mode=2 and download the parts catalogue for your mower to get the exact pieces to rebuild the starter assembly.

I need to fix athe pull string on my toro push behind mower. it has an 195cc tecumseh motor. the string broke and i can't find anything on toro about how to fix it without buying the whole assembly.

remove bolts from cover and remove the cover. Should be able to access the assembly for the pull rope. Go to a local mower repair shop buy some new line. The old line should just be knotted up on the spring loaded wheel in there. You put a new piece on put in a new knot, put some turns on the assembly to basically wing the spring so it snaps back when pulled, put line through whole and attach to pull handle.
