How to change the batteries on a freerider mayfair?

I got given a scooter but hadn't realised I had to charge it regularly. I suspect I need to change the batteries now but can't find out how?

The batteries are located under the seat. you will need to remove seat and then the plastic cowl that covers the batteries and drive compartment.

Look carefully , you will find a fuse , gently pull the wires around the seat stem , sometimes it can get buried under the power leads from the battery.

Can you move the throttle lever up and down, try going along at a constant speed (losing power ?) then move the lever up & down ?

does it improve response ? if so replace the speed pot.

Hi, my wife's freerider Mayfair mobility scooter keeps going slow, have turned speed control down but still seems to loose power, doesn't stop just slows then reverts back to the speed set.

there are four possible reasons why a mobility scooter loose power including the user weight (vs. max weight of a mobility scooter), the weather condition, the riding routine and the battery age. You can check those factors to figure out the root cause. http://trustedmobilityscooters.com/reasons-mobility-scooters-loose-power

How do I get to the batteries on my mayfair freerider

Lift the seat off. remove seat mount by removing pin or screws. Lift plastic cover off carefully but mind cables going to lights. These can be unplugged. And there should be your batteries.

I have mayfair freerider and every now & then it stops then goes again there are no green light flashes.

hi, does it just cut out ?, if so there is one fault that can cause that, worth checking, try pressing the lever in the upwards or downwards direction while going along, if it doesn't cut out , the throttle pot needs replacing ... it's worth also checking the battery and controller connections making sure they are a good fit and tight...

Other causes:

Battery voltage dropping too low...
Brake breaking down..

How many miles can I get from a fully charged Freerider Ascot 4 mobility scooter? My scooter seems to run out of charge after a few miles.

11 miles on full charged new batteries, this is approximately as condition change max distance, like you weight, if you are going uphill, how even the ground is etc. if you need more you could get a spare battery pack for it, and swap them over when needed. but remember to keep them charged even when not in use once a week is the best way to keep them in good shape.

Freerider Ascot Electric Mobility Scooter (4 wheel) Battery charges and holds current - horn works and shows green on power dial Scooter hardly moves underload - the engaged lever is set correctly. I...

I would suspect the brake is not releasing correctly and dragging on the motor housing. Try driving the scooter a short distance and feel the motor case at the rear near the brake assembly if it is very warm or hot the the brake is sticking and will have to be replaced. Hope this helps
