Linksy router i need to know what a dns is, because im trying to connect with the linksys on my psp, ive done it before at a different house, but now when i try to connect, it always says COMMUNICATION WITH THE SERVER FAILED,, A DNS ERROR HAS OCCURED, i need help please

Please try to press the reset button at least 10 seconds, it can help in fixing the issue.

You will need to set your wireless connection to a static IP adress.

Try 192.168.1.67 (if linksys router, if others try 0 rather than 1) The last three digits on this line can be anywhere from 2 to 255. They must not match any other device on the network, including the router.
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default gateway needs to be the routers IP. 192.168.1.1 (if linksys router. If others try 192.168.0.1, or 192.168.1.2)
and the DNS also needs to be the same as the routers IP. See above. ^

check that u have properly configured ip address
gateways and dns
try pinging gateway if u get ping then try pinging ur dns servers.
if u get ping from dns server ur brouser might got curropt if not you need to reconfigure ur wireless router.

I Had to replace a Linksys for a client because every time was a power outages the router was losing the setup. So try unpluging the power supply.

you are right, need cd for you lan card for it to work right,,but if you dont have it go to linksys web site and download the files you need

Connecting PS3 to a network I have LinkSys wireless router which is working perfectly for other devices (like laptop, Xbox360, TiVO). My wireless network is configured to NOT broadcast the SID and with a WEP key. After entering this manually in the network setup on my PS3, I was able to obtain an ip address from my router, I was able to open the configureation page on my router, but connecting to the internet would fail with some kind of DNS error. The way this was resolved for me, was to enter the DNS server addresses manually in the PS3 network settings AND use tetertiary DNS server from my ISP as either the primary or the secondary DNS server. ..btw, this also fixed the similar problem I had with my PSP.. Change the primary DNS of your PSP to 4.2.2.1 and secondary dns to 4.2.2.2

You have to turned on DHCP in your router settings. i think its under the General TAB if its a linksys router

log in to your router and forward ports in the router, call 1-800-linksys they'll assit u to fix your issue,
