SOURCE: Bottom screen scrambled on nintendo ds lite

This option is only suitable for out of warranty devices as opening it violates the warranty.

Open the device following this info:
How to dismantle an Original Nintendo DS.

If yours is the NDS Lite, just find this video in youtube:
"Disassembling Nintendo DS Lite"

The bottom screens have 2 wrap wires, one big and visible, that is the screen cable, the other is small and not so obvious and this one is for the touch screen and you dont want to get it broken.

The cable connectors release the cable by lifting ot pulling the brown or black lock and be sure to remember how it was connected so you can know the right position of the cable when connected right not having any problem with loosen cables before you finish.

Good Luck...

SOURCE: NINTENDO DS LITE POWERS ON AND THEN IMMEDIATELY OFF

The system powers on, then performs a system check. The DS is finding some sort of error More than likely the top screen was damaged. I've been told that the screen that flickers is usually the good screen. The bad one doesn't flicker because it's damaged. You can replace the top screen yorself (if you're fairly handy), or you can pay a professional to do it. You can get new screens from Dealextreme.com for around 10US dollars, with free shipping. You can also find videos about how to change out the top screen on youtube. Hope this helps

SOURCE: Potentially dead Nintendo DS lite LCD screen. (bottom)

Hey, I can help you.

Yes, the Bottom LCD is dead. You will have to exchange it.

Below I have two links you should follow through. One to purchase a bottom LCD for a very cheap price and the other will show you how to replace the bottom LCD.

REMEMBER.. To place a plastic pad under the bottom lcd so it doesn't ground out the board. Forgetting to do this could potentially blow a fuse and you will have to replace those!!

your fuse or fuses are dead. however, it is fixable, but it is extremely difficult.

1. if you don't have the time or the means or the wants to solder it, then sell it on ebay and you can get a fairly good price and someone else will fix it

2. if you do want to go through with this then you will need a meter, a soldering iron, and a lot of time and patience.

Top screen flickers

Have you dropped the console? has it been knocked? either the game card is faulty, or the screen is damaged in some way. Do not try to fix the screen by yourself, however, get someone who knows exactly what they're doing.

Non-working top screen

If you see lines on either screen of your Nintendo DS Lite during game play, then it is likely one or more of the components that create the image on the screen are damaged. This can occur if there has been an impact -- such as being dropped or hit -- to the Nintendo DS Lite's screens. Phone 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available repair options and they will be grateful to assist you at any time of need.Important Note: If you are seeing lines on the screen that slowly fade away after turning off the system, this is normal.

DONT ATTEMPT TO REPLACE THE TOP SCREEN ON THE DS LITE. It is easy to replace it on the original ds, But the ds lite requires you to re-soilder the 4 speaker cables into the top screen's video ribbon cable.
