Map unlock codes are specific to each unit. You will need to contact Garmin to obtain a code to unlock the maps.

SOURCE: Garmin 750 - 90 days old

Had the same problem-try this- leave your nuvi off for about 4 hours. Push the power button to the right(lock position) and then to the left (power on position) and let go. I suspect temperature (getting overheated is the problem. This worked for me.

SOURCE: garmin nuvi 750 won't say street names after upgrade to 2009 maps

User's manual available at www.garmin.com. Select "support", then "Manuals". Enter "mobile electronics"+"automotive"+"model #". Manual says that selecting a language with a person's name will speak street names.

Have garmin nuvi 265w forgot security code

Have you ever had it Registered?
If not you have to before any maps are loaded...... with the unit off connect the GPS to your computer using the USB connector cable...(its the same usb connection a camera uses connecting to a computer)..
Once your computer detects your GPS it will say new hardware found
go to www.MyGarmin.com and Register your unit
Garmin will also detect your model number and let you unlock the maps and firmware
FYI where you set up the GPS will be your SECURITY LOCATION if you ever lose your pin number you would have to travel back to the security location to unlock your unit
tip

Buying used Garmin GPS (such as iQue 3600)

Be careful buying a used Garmin GPS from eBay or any other private seller. If it does not have the maps loaded already, it could be difficult to get the maps unlocked so another owner can use them. Buying a unit that has never been registered with Garmin is preferred, but not likely. Very often the impression is given that you can just download the maps from Garmin. Not so fast! You need the ownership of the unit transferred to you which can only be done by the previous owner. After they have your money, it might be difficult to get them to do anything. Also you need the unlock codes for the map software. Having the Garmin map DVD will not get you anywhere without the codes. You can always BUY the maps/codes, but these are not cheap at $80-$100. Contacting Garmin about a non-working GPS you bought from an auction will get you nowhere. If you are the official registered owner, they become friendly!

Reset password on garmin 750 gps

I've been trawling for unanswered questions; this information may be too late for you (or perhaps it may help you resurrect a useless machine which you have put away) but it will certainly help others searching for advice with the same problem.

You have Garmin Lock activated on your nuvi: there are only two ways you can unlock it.

1. Enter the PIN code (but you clearly don't have it or you wouldn't be reading this).

2. Take the unit to the Security Location you chose when activating Garmin Lock: it will then unlock without the PIN code and you can then either reset the PIN or disable Garmin Lock. The Security Location should not be the owner's home address, but many owners ignore this recommendation. Many owners choose their workplace or a close friend or relatives address for this purpose.

If neither option works then your unit is useless unless you send it to Garmin with proof of purchase. Garmin charge for the service and if your maps are not up to date then it's really a waste of money as the investment would be better spent on a new unit with current mapping.

I hope that you manage to either fix your problem using my advice or at least can decide whether to abandon the unit and buy another.

Lost maps for Garmin Nuvi 750

If they are truly gone you'll have to buy them from Garmin. I would suggest to buy the Life Time update. That's what I did. Maybe it's just a software issue?? Get the free WEBUPDATER from Garmin here:

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} To download the latest unit software visit Garmin website: www.garmin.com/webupdater
After installing WebUpdater once from the Garmin website, perform all future software updates from your computer. Simply connect your compatible Garmin device to your computer, then run WebUpdater from your computer's "Start Menu" by selecting "Start", "Programs", "Garmin", and finally "WebUpdater"
REMEMBER: It takes hours to do a complete a map update.
Unless you bought the Lifetime maps you may have to pay for current maps.

Does this help? Let us know. Thanks.

Garmin nuvi 750 GPS

There is a serial number associated with your maps and your GPS unit. You will be able to get this serial number from Garmin when you register your software. Mapsource comes with the maps on the same disc. If it is not installed on your computer, it will automatically install.

I can't unlock my maps

Buy your map updates from Garmin, and Garmin alone.... then you can call on their excellent full customer support. They even supply you with an unlock code when you purchase maps direct from them as part of the deal. (these numbers will be recorded with Garmin, so contact them if you lost yours).
If you download maps from 'shady' sites, you get shady programs too.
Some maps downloaded have been found containing trojans to send details of your linked bluetooth products (phone details, computer details)

Hope this helps.
