Having trouble getting condenser motor out of unit, no access panels.

Access from the rear panel to drive belt:

- Remove the worktop
- Remove the side panels
- Remove the rear panel cover
- Remove the rear panel
- Remove the motor unit

You will need to remove the cover around the condenser fan motor then remove the screws holding it down to the base. Remove the wiring from the junction box and away you go. Do not run the unit without a working condenser fan motor, you run the chance of causing yourself many other problems. With a new fan motor the unit should run fine unless there is waxing in the cap tube from overheating. Good luck

This is usually a bad capacitor or bad fan motor. The capacitor is located inside the electrical panel on the outside unit. You can check these by using a meter that measures Mfds (Microfarads), most of the time you can visually see the capacitor swollen or blown. The fan motor can be checked by a meter that measures ohms, really high ohms are usually bad. If you can't spin the fan blade easily, then it's locked up. What usually happens, the capacitor or motor windings go bad, doesn't spin the fan blade, overheats the compressor so it kicks out on thermal protection till it cools back down, and sometimes the motor will overheat and go into thermal protection also. Just make sure you are getting the 220v to the outside unit too, but shut all power off before doing any trouble-shooting. Hope this helps, feel free to ask any questions!

Hi, you will need to pull the unit out and there will be a fiber panel. Remove it to gain excess the condenser fan motor and compressor. Very easy to get to. Good Luck,

dirty condenser coils or the condenser motor is not working, clean the coils with a vacuumm and brush and make sure the condenser fan motor behind the ref. is working. their is a access panel behind the ref. remove the access panel in rear and look for a motor, the blade should be spinning if the ref is running. be careful blade is sharpe dont touch blade if turning. motor runs around 29.99-89.99. and labor 75-125.00 depending on who u use and were u live . sometimes we find objects, pests caught in the blades. check all that before u call for servive . hope this helps.

You need to remove the left side panel, this is the side where the drain container is, once removed you will see the drain pump with two pipes coming from it, remove the pipes and top cover, disconnect the wiring, remove the pump unit with the clip, clean the float unit and pump, also remove the congealed mess in the water trouth as this is what holds the float up and makes the machine think the drain container is full.
I bet you will find this will cure the problems you are having, it did with mine.

We recommend vacuuming your condenser every 3 - 6 months. Cleaning the condenser is important for the overall operations of the unit including cooling functions. A dirty condenser may lead to warm temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer. It may also cause the unit to run excessively. It may contribute to condensation or frost inside of the compartments. If the condenser is not cleaned properly it may even cause premature failure of mechanical components in the unit. Condenser Cleaning - All Models Before cleaning the unit, shut the electricity off at the control panel. When you clean the condenser, wear gloves to avoid injury from the sharp condenser fins. Use a soft bristle brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the condenser. To avoid bending the condenser fins, be sure to vacuum in the direction of the fins, up and down. Clean the condenser every three to six months or sooner if you have pets. 600 Series Framed and Stainless Steel louvered grilles: First remove the grille screws located at the bottom of the grille. Tilt the top of the grille forward and release the springs from behind the grille, then lift off. Overlay Panel Grille: To remove, lift up then pull out at the bottom and down to release from its mounting bracket. Remove the two black screws in the lowest louver of the grille. Tilt the bottom of the grille out and away. It will release from the top of the grille. Model 601RG Stainless Steel Grille: Remove in a similar fashion as the overlay grille panel. 700 Series All Units: At the bottom of the unit, remove the four screws holding the kick plate/grille in place. It will then slide forward, giving you access to the condenser area. 400 Series 424/424FS At the bottom of the unit, remove the screws holding the kick plate. The condenser is located behind. 427/427R: Remove the four screws holding the kick plate/grille in place. It will then slide forward, giving you access to the condenser area. 430: First remove the screws located at the bottom of the grille. NOTE: These screws (Phillips head) are accessed with the door open. Tilt the top of the grille forward and release the springs from behind the grille, then lift off. 200 Series 245, 249, 315W Remove the kick plate at the bottom of the unit, giving you access to the condenser area.

Here is my own solution...
Disconnect from mains (of course) remove top (2 screws at back near top) Unplug electric connectors (on back panel, top RHS). Make sure note what goes where! Lie unit down on front remove screws (2) holding the drum spindle cover (centre of back) and remove cover pop off the circlip holding drum spindle, and washer unscrew back panel - hex headed screws round outside of back Remove screws at bottom of back panel which screw into the plastic vent housing (3 I think) Lift whole back off. (there's a plastic lip at bottom - need to pull away from this a bit) The drum spindle will be unsupported now, so don't move unit Full access now to drum and motor beneath Get and put on new belt reassemble.
Actually, having got into unit, found could not get belt from local spares shop (it had closed down), so bought new drier!

You do not access from the side. Access is from the front. You remove the front grill and the entire bottom skid has to be pulled forward. They either have two screws holding the skid down in the front or they are on the side at the very bottom. When you pull the skid out you will have a number of issues to deal with. 1. The refrigerant tubing is looped behind the unit and as you pull forward and later push it back you run the risk of kinking the lines or having them hang up on something. 2. The power cord for the compressor actually is plugged in at the back top of the compressor compartment it is too short and virtually impossible to get out and back in again without accessing the back of the unit as well. 3. The drain tube will most likely get yanked out as well and will require that you access the back of the unit anyway to push it in properly.

It sounds like you may have lost line voltage to the unit. What you hear is most likely the buzzing of the compressor relay which is energized by 24v from the indoor unit. Look at your condenser coil, are the aluminum fins clogged with debris? If so this is likely the cause of the tripped breaker and will need to be cleaned. Before you go to the trouble have someone go to your breaker panel and flip all the 220v DPST breakers off and back on while you watch and listen to the condenser to insure that the fan and compressor will come on line as soon as this is confirmed turn the breaker off and clean you condenser coil, the correct way to clean the condenser coil is to remove the disconnect plug at the unit or turn of the line voltage at the breaker, remove the top panel that supports the fan , flip it over being carefull that it's weight is supported in a way that wont stress the wireing harness to the fan motor. Spray the inside surface of the condenser coil with a heavy foaming cleaning solvent and let it have time to saturate the grime compacted between the fins then spray from the inside out and from the top down until the water runs free and clean from the inside thru the coil. Replace the top panel and allow time to insure that any water that might have gotten into the fan motor housing has evaporated, Then start it up if that was the original cause of the thrown breaker (very often is) then your in good shape and just saved a service call, Gratz!
