More detail to my question on mal function of milk frother. Coffee making function is working well and I have descaled as per instructions. When I try to use the steam arm there is a pumping sound but northing comes out of the steam arm and after a few minutes steam and hot water is ejected from the main coffee outlet. At this point either the two green lights flash or the green steam light and red light come on. Any feedback on possible solution would be greatly appreciated.

This might not be the problem , but sometimes , not cleaning milk frother tip properly , the tip gets closed with dry milk. use a needle and push it in the frother tip and see if there is a restriction. hope this helps.

Steam is coming out of the top of the unscrew button when the water is heating the frother on my DeLonghi Icona Vintage coffee maker it then blows the fuse.

It sounds like there may be a blockage or pressure build-up in the frother or in the steam wand of your DeLonghi Icona Vintage coffee maker, which is causing steam to escape from the unscrew button and blow the fuse. Here are a few things you can try to fix the issue:
  1. Clean the frother and steam wand: The blockage may be caused by a build-up of milk or other debris in the frother or steam wand. Try cleaning them thoroughly with hot water and a cleaning solution designed for espresso machines.
  2. Descale the machine: If the blockage is caused by mineral build-up, descaling the machine may help to remove it. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for descaling your specific model.
  3. Check the pressure release valve: There may be a problem with the pressure release valve, which is causing steam to escape from the unscrew button. Check the valve and make sure it is not blocked or damaged.
  4. Contact DeLonghi customer service: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it may be a problem with the machine's internal components. Contact DeLonghi customer service or a qualified repair technician for further assistance.
It's important to be careful when working with steam and hot water, so make sure to follow all safety instructions and precautions when attempting to troubleshoot or repair your coffee maker.

The descaling light stays on even though I have gone thru the process of descaling.

You are not completing the descale program. See below.

10.3 DESCALING
Due to the continuous heating of the water used to make the coffee, over
time it is normal for the tubing inside the machine to fill with lime scale.
When the light starts flashing( chap. 12-point 5), it is time to descale
the machine.
NOTE: when the light switches on, the coffee maker can still be used to
prepare coffee.
Proceed as follows:
• Empty the tank and pour in the contents of one bottle (125 ml) of
DURGOL descaler plus one liter of water. For subsequent descaling
operations, descaling solution can be purchased from authorised
technical service centres.
NB: Make sure splashes of descaler do not fall onto surfaces sensitive
to acid such as marble, limestone and glaze.
• place a container with a minimum capacity of 1.5 litres under
the milk frother (Fig. 3);
• turn the machine on by pressing the button (Fig. 4).
• wait for the green and indicator lights to come on steady.
• press and hold the button for at least 5 seconds (Fig.14). The
light inside the button switches on (chap. 11 - point 8) to indicate
the start of the descaling program (the and lights remain
off to indicate that it is not possible to make coffee).
• turn the steam knob half a turn anticlockwise (Fig.5). The
descaling solution will come out of the milk frother and start to
fill the container underneath.
• the descaling program automatically performs a series of deliveries
and pauses, so as to remove the lime scale deposits from
inside the coffee maker.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
• after around 30 minutes, when the light comes on (chap. 12 - GB
point 1), turn the steam knob half a turn clockwise (Fig.6) until it
stops.
The machine must be rinsed so as to eliminate the residues of descaling
solution from inside the machine. Proceed as follows:
• remove the water tank, rinse it and fill it with clean water.
• reposition the tank.
• empty the collection container (located under the milk frother) that is
full of liquid, and then replace it under the milk frother.
• turn the steam knob half a turn anticlockwise (Fig. 5). Hot water will
come out of the milk frother and fill the container underneath.
• when the tank is empty, the light goes off and the light
comes on (chap. 12 - point 1).
• turn the steam knob all the way clockwise (Fig. 6) and fill the water
tank with clean water again.
• the program of descaling is hour terminated and the machine is
ready per do again the coffee.

NOTE: if the descaling procedure is stopped before completion, the
alarm (chap. 12 - point 5) is not deactivated and the procedure
must be started again form the beginning.

IMPORTANT: THE GUARANTEE IS NOT VALID IF THE ABOVE DESCALING OPERATION
IS NOT PERFORMED REGULARLY.

DeLonghi Perfecta ESAM5500 when trying to make a cappucino it wont **** up the milk any ideas thanks

Had this exact problem a few times on a cleaned well maintained milk jug top with an ESAM5500M. Delonghi 'repaired' it by sending a new milk jug frothing top.

It's caused by milk fat deposits, the frother part on the milk jug may look clean but deep inside it's not. I clean mine with pipe cleaners, detergent and hot water and still it wouldn't froth.

The problem re-occurs for me every 6 months or so. You could buy the milk fat remover solution to clean it. Personally I just boil the whole milk jug frother in detergent and the again in descaling solution, that's fixed this problem twice now, although I think it will eventually corrode the 'o' rings on the frother, still cheaper than buying a new frother part each time though.

If it still doesn't work after that, the only other reason for this problem I found mention of was caused by a broken rubber seal where the milk jug fits to the machine. It's most likely to be milk fat deposits inside the frother though.

Helpful tips:
Descaling products are widely available from stores that sell coffeemakers and espresso machines. Be sure that the product you buy to descale your Espresso machine is intended for this specific use only. Before you descale your Espresso machine, always unplug it and make sure that it is cold. Also, never immerse the appliance in water or use abrasive cleaning products/scouring materials on any part of your espresso machine.
