When you can't get them from creative it is a challenge.

You have to be sure the computer has the correct software to recognise the hardware and can work with it. From Windows 7 and up, for all hardware that is certified with Microsoft, you can download the drivers from Microsoft. Lots of hardware is recognised when connected and will initiate a download from Microsoft. But not all hardware will do so and not all hardware is compatible (same as not certified by Microsoft from Windows 7 and up) with the new operating systems.

Most things that worked fine with Windows XP and or Vista, can fail with Windows 7 and 8, because the factory that made the hardware in the first place does not ask for certification with Microsoft for their old Hardware. They only spend time and money to get their new hardware certified on the new operating systems. So to make sure your hardware is compatible with the OS. Check the manual and find out, what you have to do so it will work on your computer.

WDM does work now period.

    sb0200
hyjacke not once tells what PC nor OS.
so why not ask the maker, register the product and ask for support.
    like we do.
the folks on amazon.com for this board
cra no w8/10 support, and midi is dead./
creative labs lists this 1998 card as END OF life, no support.
wdm audio drive WILL NOT load using
    vista up compatibility mode,
    windows 2000\ is end .
    last update 2007 ( 11 years ago)
Creative Sound Blaster 5.1 Driver 5.12.01.202
learn to not buy 20 year old cards.
then expect them to work in year 2018.
    its not going to happen,
if compatibility mode fails, you are lost.
WDM driver (XP) failed on VISTA this way
Windows Vista supports the following WDM audio capabilities:
    WDM version 1.40
All the features that Windows XP supports, with the following exceptions.
Hardware peak meters are supported, except when the Windows Vista mixer API runs in per-application mode.
Wave and MIDI NT4 drivers function normally, but they are not supported by the new audio user interface.
AUX devices are not supported, and the auxGetNumDevs function in Mmsystem.h will always return a count of zero.
Windows NT4-style mixer drivers (DRIVERS32) are not supported.

    ----------------then w7-----------
    zero

  • Anonymous Nov 22, 2018

that means using or expecting 20 year old WDM driver to work on VISTA up , w7/8/10
is pipe dream that will never happen.
stop buying this junk at the thrift store. ok?>

  • Anonymous Nov 22, 2018

xp, w2k and mE , and ends.
WDM ends. and WSM is life cycle ended at MX.com too...
so is 3 ways dead from Sunday
    MS dead
    creative dead.
    and VISTA up , dead.
strike 3 though sb0200 heart. RIP WDM.

  • Anonymous Nov 22, 2018

and then there are those geeks that think but there is 3rd party support.
well HP and DELL have no such support.
on this device, period. 1997 it is...
unless running XP and want that?
nobody runs XP in 2018 . zero (www shows 0.2%)2 tenths of 1 per cent.

  • Anonymous Nov 22, 2018

    wells
the card has 2 notches in is PCI only card and will not fit any PCI-express only mobo
the 2 slots tell you works only on...
    32bit only PCI slots.
    and works on 2 voltages.3.3v and 5v.
ok? (fits 3 different PCI 32bit slots)
but only works on windows 2000 or older
    never vista up.
    end legacy class 101.
    now the XP answer.
you installed XP it runs but this card is dead, so you turn off the onboard bios audio ship in BIOS and SB0200 works,
    or doesn't.
    say fails.
you then connect the internet to the PC a
and PNP fails to find this driver.
MS ended XP support. for this chip, long ago.
the ID Is here for this CHIP.
    dev 0002 EMU10k1
    [Sound Blaster Live! Series]
    1102 - 0002 ven/dev
the windows PnP site only does 0004 and up
not 0002 device, so PNP is dead here, for this chip NOW. sorry dead is dead.

so with that fact you then find the only driver at creativelabs for windows 2000
it is there, I see it. now.
that was last released in 2007. (patched)
you load this and it might work, who knows.?
Good luck loading w2k into xp

    to all hijackers and readers.
why buy used junky 2 decade old cards.
it has no real value. at all ,
sure scalpers sells this junk but why buy it.
as seen on fleabay and AmonZONED every day.
even sold as refurbished, that means they dusted it off and sold it, eegads.

  • Anonymous Nov 23, 2018

here is what I have for this card,
full report, just ONE CARD DEV_0002 coded

    876MB of sound driver I have . xp/vista.
    x86 only vista first.
15 drivers exist, for vista and w7
    all creative cards, old.
this driver is the only driver with possibilities to run vista UP, or in compatibility modes higher w8 or 10.
just this one. (no others can work here)

    Creative Technology Ltd, 1994-2007.

    ; Audio Device
    ; - PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0002&CC_040100
    ;
    ; Modified Date: 18 March 2010
    ; Version: 2.18.0017.7
    end
    XP only next

xp has more. 13 more. for XP and creative
    but only 1 works with DEV_0002 card./chip
and WDM drivers do NOT work or run on vista and up (newer) period

    Description
; This inf file contains the following device for Creative's audio card.
    (one driver does 4 cards)
    ;
    ; Audio Device
    ; - PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0005&CC_040100
    ; - PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0008&CC_040100

    ;
    ; Modified Date: 14 January 2008
    ; Version: 2.15.0004.4
these are useless on vista up

  • Anonymous Nov 23, 2018

the Last vista driver is here, and clean.
placed here. is small and virsustotal.com
safe !!!only for the above card OP stated.
    http://ge.tt/5TIuHxs2

good luck and tell your success loading this file, it is 7 zip compressed, so just uncompress into a folder named,(by you)
    SB0200
right click the Wdma_emu.inf file and click
    install. you are done.(if lucky)

this driver is 2010 last one ever made.
    for this card.
in newer OS, you must use compatibility mode
then fight certificate errors, (by pass it)
best of all , avoid this card,

Sound card problem

Hi Miong u,
Untill you install the sound drivers, your computer won`t recognise your sound card.

Go HERE (http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=828&OSFullName=Windows*+2000&lang=eng&strOSs=19&submit=Go%21) and download, and install your audio drivers.

You can download the driver from intel website depending on the O.S
Might I also suggest you download your chipset drivers as well.

Need sound card driver

Hi Rana,

Assuming you're running Windows XP or 2000, you can download the PCI 128 Sound Card Driver Installation programs here:

http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=255. (They are free of charge, of course).

When you launch the program, it detects your operating system information and automatically installs the appropriate drivers.

If you're running something other than Windows XP or 2000, go here: http://support.creative.com/Downloads/searchdownloads.aspx to find additional driver installation packages.

Hope this helps, and enjoy the sound and music!

Gail :-)
