Rheem 71 40d elecrtic water heater not heating

I have an electric water heater does it have a piolot light because i cant find it? and what else could it be?

If it is an electric water heater, there is no pilot light. You could have bad elements or bad thermostats. Be careful working on an electric water heater, as most use 208-220 volts!

If it is a gas water heater, it could be a bad thermocouple, ignitor, gas valve.

My advice to you is to call a qualified service company to come repair your water heater.

Why do lights flicker
An electric water heater will draw a lot of electricity. Your house may not be wired well, and when the heater kicks on, your lights will dim some. If your house is over 25 years old, it's likely normal.

How do you light the pilot light?
Hello, You cant light a pilot light on an electic water heater. All you can do it have electrician make sure it is wired in correctly and have him show you the correct breaker or fuse for the water heater.

Reliance 501 water heater and I cant find a way to turn it DOWN ..the water is scalding
Replace both thermostats and test both elements.

I cant seem to find were the gallon size is on my reliance 501 electric water heater were might it be located?

Piolot light wont stay light.
Here's a solution that'll blow your socks off!
Get the thing running.
Then briskly tap the pilot supply line.
Watch as the line cleanses itself.
Should be fine for a long time.

Have a 40 gal rheem gas water heater with an electric starter...pilot will not light(and cant light manually)doesnt look like there is a thermocoupler,as i bought one with some advice and the part does not...
does the igniter spark!! if no its probably the igniter.

Best way to start is to look at label on side of tank.
Label has serial number, model number, plus it will say if heater is gas or electric.
Reliance water heater age is shown in serial number: first digit is letter, second two digits are numbers: for example numbers 02 would be the year 2002.
If water heater is 8-12 years old, it might be time to consider new tank.

Gas water heater has 3 inch metal flue pipe coming out of top of tank.
Gas pilot is probably off.
Relight pilot light: Most gas water heaters today have instructions on side of tank just above gas valve that say how to relight pilot light. Instructions vary by model.
If you have gas water heater that is older, it might be easier to call a plumber.

Electric water heater has panels on front.
Open top panel and push in red reset button.
If you have electric water heater of any age, you can usually fix it yourself same day:

What is the proper sequence for lighting the pilot on a whirlpool electric light water heater?
There is not pilot flame on electric water heater! It is electric! You just connect it to the proper inlet (cold water main) and outlet (hot water to tap), then connect it to electrical outlet, switch it on and that is all. it should run automaticaly when you open the tap.
