How do you install dome tweeters?
tweeters get installed almost like any other speaker. you pick a mounting spot, then mount them, or cut the hole for recessed tweeters, etc. run the wire to the closest speaker wire from your stereo, and just splice it in. you will however need some kind of crossover to prevent the low frequencies from being played through the tweeters. if you buy new tweets, they usually come with their own crossover, or there are a few different styles you can get.there are the passive crossovers, the ones that look like small boxes. there are also the inline filters. these are the ones that you splice into the positive speaker wire to filter out the low frequencies. and some aftermarket stereos come with some kind of filter or equalizer built in, depending on your model. what I would do is buy one of the inline filters for each tweeter. theyre inexpensive, and easy to install, and they work great.
so basically, just mount the tweeter, run its wires to an existing speaker wire and splice it in, and install an inline filter on the positive wire for the tweeter.
oh, one last thing. if your interior speakers are powered by an amplifier and not by the stereo, then just run the tweeter wire to the speaker outputs on the back of the stereo. too much power will definitely destroy any tweeter. good luck!
